Okay, i've bought a Storm Raven... Why because the parts are superb and it gives me a fighting chance of finishing this project.

pictures.... for your viewing pleasure.

Plans are to use sections of the Stormraven to fill in details and give it the look of a professional Thunderhawk.

1. The Tail section off the Storm Raven will be used as the Tail piece.

2. The Stub-Wings will be used over the top of the Engines.

3. The Cockpit will be used as the Thunderhawk cockpit like so...

This gives the glass, the detail and just how professional this will look.

4. Landing Gear will be used on Thunderhawk, saving alot of effort.

5. Weapons Sponsons, sections doors etc will all be useful.

So all this and some of the pieces will be used to save time and effort and also to give the Thunderhawk a more professional look...

Okay after a long absence (doing other stuff) I have all the materials, and time to at least finish the model off. (God knows when I will be able to paint it).

Just wait for the next set of updates in the next 96 hours.

I like the shape and the use of Styrene sheet. But using the Storm Raven for parts is a little off as the scale is different, and the way that the cockpit is off set looks a little weird, it would look good with 2 cockpits side by side as in the FW thunderhawk there are 2 pilots sat side by side.

But the Rhino coming out the fron is sweet and is the way a Hawk should be

I know what you are saying about having a single offset cockpit, but I think it looks good and makes the whole thing look alot less scratchbuilt and ultimately I want it to look almost Professional. The sides of the STORMRAVEN are nice as they include the side doors, so when I buy some nice Iron Hands Doors off FW it will look nice. I can also then Magnetise them and buy some EAGLE ones so I can turn it in to a Imperial Navy/ Inquisition one if I paint the whole thing Black/ metallic.

I decided that this would be a slightly different Pattern of Thunderhawk, as it has a Single Cockpit and only two Engines. I'll probably call it a Medusa Pattern or Gorgon Pattern Thunderhawk as it will be in an Iron Hands Livery.

Okay, what I have done for the next stage is to build the whole thing in Plasticard and then Clad it in very Thin Plasticard (0.5mm) the reason for this is that I can build up layers of Plate so it will look more like a Space Marine vehicle. Like so...

So B is the base of the Thunderhawk clad in a sheet of 0.5mm Plasticard which is glued to the Thick Plasticard below. On top of this Plates in various Square Geometric or Angular forms (e.g A) are cut, and then placed on top, they are relatively thin. However they do show a certain level of armoured robustness when done all over the Transport. If in doubt, look at the armour on a Rhino, Drop pod or Landraider and you will see a layered effect.

I have much more to do, but you can see it coming together, once the Box shape comes together, it is easier to glue on extra pieces and add the detail. I am now after a Turbo-Laser to put in a fixed mount ontop and then finish off the rest. Probably got 30- 40 hours to do.

With the amount of effort you are putting into making a thunderhawk I think you would be better of buying a real one.

And if you like the "challenge" of building one from what I read a fw thunderhawk is very challenging to build.

Good job though.

My Rhino don't fit inside a Bought one...I prefer what I'm doing. Under £100 is achievable, I've got photo's and stuff to update on this but my life is busy.
