Last night I was perusing through dakka and read a thread on the idea of a DE avatar. This morning I was reading about Nids and their effect on Craftworlds. So then I have this thought. Shadow in the Warp is supposed to block most psychic resonance from things, I figure in the way of a blank to a psyker. So wouldn't Wraithguard and Wraithlords have a bit of trouble there? And on top of that wouldn't it be nearly impossible to get the Avatar out, seeing how it is awakened by the psychic resonance of the fighting eldar, along with a sacrifice of course, and is kind of a denizen of the warp?

Eldar are v. psychic.
Tyranids are v. disruptive to psychics.
Enough psykers and it can get through and since all Eldar are a bit psychic it adds up.
Iyanden managed to get a message out to Yriel the pirate (in his pirate ship with his pirate buddies) when the Tyranid fleet attacked.
That's my explaination and i'm sticking with it unless a better one turns up.

The key difficulty i see in your logic is that you make the jump to a full blank from the shadow in the warp. The shadow calms the warp while a blank, by which I assume you mean a pariah, completely nullifies it. Take for instance the psychic power on the Table top. It makes it harder to pass psychic tests and makes it impossible to have a perils of the warp attack. It does not stop psychic tests all together, and the nids are still able to use psychic powers of their own with impunity. We must also consider that demons have no disadvantages as a result of this power, which leads one to believe that it can block out the smaller warp predators but nothing near the size or power of a demon, much less a demon of the power and might of an avatar which also has elaborate rituals, a huge psychic beacon, and various totems to summon it.

I will say that I do like the question, you made some interesting connections.

You also have to add the fact in that Tyranids do not use the warp for psychic powers. They use the Hive Mind. Therefore connecting them to the others causes some unbalance in your theory.

I don't think Pariahs have any effect on the Wraithguys anyways. You just stick the stone in kick em the but and they go.

I always pictured the shadow of the warp working like a jamming signal, it just suppress other psychic beings. So wraiths would still work, but would a more difficult time communicating with farseers, some goes with the avatar, more work but still capable.

All I know is it is a very thought inducing question.

The thing is, Wraithguard and Wraithlords don't use the Warp persay, they use Eldar souls stored in the Infinity Circuit to control them. So, not drawing on the Warp tends to allow them to bypass the Shadow problem.

WL's and WG's use wraithsight so, yes they can still function in the presence of the Hive Mind, but Mr Nobody has a valid point in that their telepathic communication would perhaps be disrupted by it.
