I was wanting to create a new Imperial Guard regiment that branches off the Death Korps of Krieg, basically they are sent to planets in need of defense from Tyranid. I like the Death Korps look and the fact that they wear masks is good for Tyranid assaults in the fluff.

This regiment would be sent to worlds that will inevitably be hit by the 'nids. While they prefer to be on the defensive role for their trench warfare tactics they are also sent to hunt them down on occasion.

So I would like some help with possible names and color schemes, any ideas dakka?

If they really are descended from the DKoK, German names would be worth trying out.

How about french names? Everyone knows that DK are half french!

I think the best 'nid hunter fluff is in the old codex:catachans about the swamprats who covered their bodies and clothing in the inchor of tyranids they have killed to build up an immunity to the toxins and mask them from lictors and after all this they spend 2 years in decontamination.

I could see a force with a 50/50 style mix of veterans and conscripts, cos its either 'you get good or get eaten'.

Thta was quite the double edged sword plan. Ya i really would like to start writing fluff on these guys, but I would like a little head start, some outside influence. Not many people seem interested in this thread though haha

now about those names for Krieg men....

I am reading Dead Men Walking (about the death korps of krieg) and is says that Krieg men aren't given names. The few who are given names, hardly use them anymore when the join the korps (at around 13 years). Basic soldiers are just given a number, nothing else.
Ranking officers, for example a colonel, are given the number of their regiment. for example, the colonel of the twenty seventh Krieg regiment would be called 'Colonel 27'

have some of their equipment/armor/weapons using nid bitz. They would take parts from their kills as trophies. I like the idea. Lots of Heavy weapons and yet stealth. They hide from the swarm and strike hard at the best moment.

Good, yeah they will have like gaunt skulls on the end of their guns with the barrel sticking out of the mouth...... that kind of stuff. and their hundreds of heavy artillery will smash the 'nids from miles while the _____ infantry will clean up the mess that is left behind.

Yes the blank means I need a name for the regiment still.
