I'm about to start painting 10 Rhinos and Im just curious how many people glue the back door shut, and how many people paint the inside and stuff.. I'm building these things to play so not sure if theres rules about what can and cant be glued...

You can glue it, its preference. IIRC, doors can't be used to gain extra inches of movement nowadays but I may be wrong. Either way, it doesn't really matter whether you glue the door on or not (hell, you could probably leave the door off it still makes no difference) in gaming terms.

I don't have any Rhinos but I have Devilfish and I cemented the doors shut because I didn't want to bother painting the inside.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

My doors are glued shut for the following reasons:

1.) The one door I did not glue shut has a tendency to open at will and be more of a pain in the neck than anything else.

2.) I am a lazy painter who - although it looks cool when done - does not see the practicality in painting the interior.

I would make ONE huge recommendation, though. I suggest leaving the top hatch unglued and magnetizing the doors. You can utilize spare parts from tank kits and a clever bitz-shopping to create an extra heavy option!

In that vein, why ever attach purity seals, scrolls, transfers or do any painting more then 3 colors? The practicality IS that it looks cool.

I disagree on the grounds that additions to a model like a purity seal or "more than three colors" is always in view. These details reside on a beautifully painted model that is placed on the table. The inside of a rhino is not seen unless you open the little door in the back and make an effort to peer inside. There's nothing wrong with painting the inside. I was just saying why I don't. I would rather spend my time modelling and painting a cool looking marine with a "purity seal, scroll, or more than three colors" than the inside of a vehicle that will hardly ever be seen and - in my opinion - whose operation is more of a nuisance than an enjoyment.

Maybe I should mention that I also hinge the top hatch of my Rhinos, so it makes more sense from that perspective - you actually get to see the inside of mine. In any event, you make a strong and sound argument for why to not paint the insides if you're already disinclined to do so.

Likewise. I commend hobbyist who go that extra mile and paint the interior of their vehicles. Its an awesome addition to the detail that is already present on a painted tabletop. As I have only been into the hobby two years and each month I seem to delve deeper into the hobby and the painting quality I expect of myself, I suppose some day I too will go to that extent of detail. Right now, however, it's not in the cards.

I spend enough time on the outside, let alone the inside. I have seen cool pic and I agree that it looks good and is a great thing to brag about but I won’t even try and do it.

I hinge doors that are set up that way, mod the ones that aren't made for it so they will and paint the insides, just because it makes me happy. Do what you like and what makes you happy. As far as I know there are no game restrictions one way or another.

If playing is your priority, save yourself time and effort and glue all doors closed (except the top hatches, as FlightMek suggests, if you want to swap tops with other Rhino variants).

If painting/modelling is your priority, go crazy and hinge everything and paint every detail inside and out.
