Regarding the putting together of an army.

I have 5 terminators (sqaud)

The CODEX says for +40 per model I can have 5 extra... Am I allowed to make the additional 5 Assault terminators? to add to the original squad? and that way NOT creating an additional ELITES group (As there are only 3 ELITES groups allowed on the army list).

OR do I have to keep the additional 5 the same as the first 5 terminators (Which in my case were power fist and storm bolter terminators).

You can only take what is listed in the unit options. When you add the 5 Terminators, they are equipped as per that unit entry.

So no, the only way you get Assault Terminators is in a Terminator Assault squad.

thanks. In that case, Only one drednought is allowed in an army then? As it says UNIT COMPOSITION: 1 Drednought.

I guess you can't build a massive army with multiple drednoughts and terminators or you will exceed the allowed amount of each, right?

You can have 3 dreadnoughts, taking up 3 elite choices. The composition is not referring to the amount you can have in your army, its referring to the amount you can have in a squadron (unit).

Or three units of 10 termies each filling those Elite choice slots. Not that you'd want to.

Do give the Army List forum a lot of lurking and you'll see the kind of balance lists have.

No, that means that only one Dreadnought is allowed in that unit.

You can have more than one unit of dreadnaughts but each unit is only one. (you can't have a squad of five!). So, you can have three dreadnaughts, one in each Elite slot. If you take a Master of the Forge then you can take six! - one in each elite slot and one in each heavy support slot.

Where only one of a unit type may be taken they are either "Type: (unique)" (see the space marine special characters for an example) or "0-1" (there are none of those in the space marine codex)

Why wouldn't you want to? 30 terminators would be amazing. You would steamroll just about anything. Though they would cost 1200 points, without any goodies
