I'm just surprised that you didn't mention the "2++-HQ-Sister-of-Doom" taht everyone always mentions when discussing Sororitas...

Your opinions are flawed. The most obvious example is this:

I disagree however, as they can just give themselves a 3+ Invulnerable Save using The Spirit of The Martyr, and then rush in and cause some massive damage! Hell a squad of 20 could stand up to a beating from my squad of 20 Bloodletters!

Since you obviously can't roll equal to or over 20 on 2d6, you'd have to waste your Litanies of Faith to activate Spirit of the Martyr in this situation. That's 25 points to get a 3++ save, so that you can charge and get 40 attacks that hit on 4+, wound on 5+ and are saved on 5+. Or you could just shoot the bastards and get 40 attacks that hit on 3+, wound on 4+ and are saved on 5+, without wasting your Litanies of Faith, and without waiting for the Bloodletters 40 attacks that hit on 3+, wound on 3+ and are saved on 3+.

Which would you prefer: paying 25 points to suffer 6 casualties and then cause 3 in return, or pay 0 points to suffer 0 casualties and cause 9 in return?

ah but using the Spirit and the Hand of the emporer your likely to kill more and with a sqaud of 20 your going to be hard pressed to fail THAT one seeing as you need to roll equal or under 20 on 2d6.

4+, 3+, 5+

4+, 3+, 5+

Then you're spending two Acts of Faith to suffer 6 casualties and cause 6, instead of suffering 0 and causing 9.

only 6 casulties???

With 40 attacks on the charge. and about 30 from the wounds caused from the Letters?

i'm sure thats more than JUST 6...

20 Bloodletters attack first with 2 attacks each.

40 attacks, hit on 3+.
26.67 hits, wound on 3+.
17.78 wounds, saved on 3++.
5.93 Sisters killed. 14 remain.

14 Sisters attack with 2 attacks each.

28 attacks, hit on 4+.
14 hits, wound on 3+.
9.33 wounds, saved on 5++.
6.22 Bloodletters killed. 14 remain.

First thing that came to mind when I saw the title.

Faith points are to be used carefully and when they seem needed most. Not I'm going to throw 3 points at this and hope it works out.
That example list is not so great either. Better taking multiples of 10 if you want to go that way than the big units of 20 that will get sweeping advanced. Even then foot slogging SoB isn't that great, but it depends on what you like I guess. They are horribad at combat and the acts of faith only slightly mitigate this badness.

Although you did point out some of their good points. Don't forget about their army wide psychic defense it's saved a squad or two a few times for me.

This melissia person seems really famous for SoB topic trolling eh? surely can't be that bad?

anyways it's a decent enough article. i was kinda let down by the amount of hate or lack thereof.. especially since this is the first line

you should hate more. if you're getting hate mail back you're doing it right. i'm going to read some of your other stuff now. cheers

She isn't a troll... just angry... about things... especially when people start talking about bolter shells or SoB being not as good as other possibly equally armoured armies...

She just happens to have a few berserk buttons, and talking bad about the SoB is one of them. Now, I personally like their fluff alot...seems kind of interesting in my opinion. If and when they get a new codex, I'll probably pick up a small number of them....

Not sure exactly how they work on the table top, so I'll keep quiet on that front.

Wasn't much of a rant. It felt like you felt sorry for them and decided too big them up.

Seconded, it was more a discussion about the various Acts of Faith than a rant. There were about 2 paragraphs near the end that felt like a good rant, but that's it.

By the way, your friend is right, thanks to theri low toughness, even the biggest and badest of them will be ID'd by even multilasers and autocannons. And even if they give themselves a 3+ invul save, the solution to that is the same as dealing with TH/SS termies: just keep shooting them. They have to fail a save eventually. Heck, since Sisters only have a 3+ armor, massed lasgun fire would actually be pretty dang useful against them.

And wow. Not so sure about the article. You basically C&P'd the Faith powers and then said 'OMG! They has Invulnerables!!!1one'

If you want to really analyze the sisters for weaknesses, you might want to take a look at the army list and rules closer.

- Poor long range fire.
- No dedicated CC units worth a darn.
- Mid range play that is difficult to accomplish (12-24" is the sweet spot)
- Often rely on inducted guard / stormtroopers to shore up weaknesses.
- S3/T3

Advantages?
- Tarpit assault units very well. (Possible Invulnerable and a 5 pt Stubborn upgrade)
- Abundance of flame templates and melta
- Acts of Faith can turn your armor into slag
- Cheap core troops with good armor.
- Easily mechanized
- Great at destroying units at the 12-24" mark.
- Still relevant in 5th edition.
