Now, all of these Jewish kids at my school are complaining that we don't get off for Hanukkah, but it isn't a religious holiday, so why should we get off for it? They all say it is, but I don't think that it is as important as Yom Kipper or other Jewish holidays like Passover. So is it religious?

Frazzled says complaining about the efficacy of particular religious holidays is not really appropriate. We do not ask why they occur, only that we get paid vacation days to celebrate them!
