Subject: Question about IG weapon squads

When it says '' up to two models may form a weapon team from the following list'' or something along those lines, does that mean the two models go on a single base, or they each have their own?
I believe this usually has to do with command squads or something rather- any help for a clueless player is greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

It means that you can take away two normal guardsmen with lasguns and replace them with a single two wound heavy weapon base.
Some of the older weapon teams come on two smaller individual bases but they would still be treated as a single two wound model.

The two models form a single heavy weapon team on one base.

For clarification: the standard base that the HWT is mounted on is 60mm now.

The guardsmen form a single model, leaving you with a 9-man squad (one of which is particularly beefy).
Back in the day, they used to be two models, and I still make them as 2 separate ones, it's just I mount them onto a large base.
Some day I can only hope that they split into two models again and I can throw my large bases away, but until that time...
