What is the point of putting terminator armor on a captain who can have the same save and weapon loadout for 7 points less including a storm sheild and could still sweeping advance? maybe I am missing something but it seems stupid to not put him in artificer armor with storm sheild instead.

Terminator armor grants the ability to deepstrike, has a 5++ built into the cost which this time means diddly and also cant get into transports

Anyways, do note he only has two weapons to swap out - he can't get the SS if he takes the same basic weapons as the terminator armour. And nothing says you have to take a command squad or join it... join a terminator unit instead if you have a terminator captain.

Also, a less important note is all models in TDA get relentless i believe. (dont have the book on me)

But that does't help a captain.

Basically, if he's rolling with a termie squad in a raider then it looks better if he's in termie armour. If he's going to deepstrike with them then he needs it.

But no, it's not a great option. Because of the iron halo artificer armour is just as good and he has a better choice of weapons.

Because it makes him awesome. That is worth the points.

As a side note, space marine standard captains/force commanders are way too expensive compared to their named battle brothers anyway.

Well relentless can come into play... in one situation: Combi weapons(mostly Plasma) you can move, fire the bolter(or plasma gun) and still assault.

For that Specific Build:

Captain in Termi-armor, with Combi-plasma: 145 pts

Captain in Arti-armor, with power sword, and Plasma Pistol: 145 pts

Same Cost, same save, same 4++ but termi armor is more tactically flexible, and Plasma pistols are garbage anyways(Why spend 15 points for 1 plasma Shot the entire game, most of the time; I mean you might get 2 in 1 game)

of course on the flip-side the Arti-amored captain has 1 more attack in CC(I miss old TDA that gave +1A)

Terminator armor is flexible until you want to stick him in a normal transport lol
