Hey so I was thinking this might be the way to go to make a semi-competative mycetic spored nids army.
• HQ - Hive Tyrant, Wings, Heavy Venom Cannon, Hive Commander, Old Adversary – 305 points
• Heavy Support – Carnifex with Heavy Venom Cannon in Mycetic Spore – 225 points
• Heavy Support – Carnifex with Heavy Venom Cannon in Mycetic Spore – 225 points
• Troops - Tervigon (with inclusion of Termie unit), Catalyst – 175 points
• Troops – 15 x Termagants with Devourers in Mycetic Spore – 190 points
• Elite 1 – 2 Zoanthrope in Mycetic Spore– 160 points
• Elite 2 – 1 Lictor – 65 points
• Elite 3 – 3 x Hive Guard – 150 points
1495 points
Turn two is really where this army kicks into life, the Lictor and Tyrant give you a 2+ board entry with non scatter (pheromone trail and hive commander abilities).
Zoanthropes are essentially twin linked meltas so they drop in behind the heaviest tank.
Tyrant moves 24" to assault something elite, like termies or sternguard
Carnifexes use Venom Cannons to take out skimmers.
Squad of spored Termies shoot 45 rounds of Devourer into an entrenched troop unit like IG blob.
Hive Guard get off their 6 shots
and Tervigon moves up in first two turns to spawn two more units and give one FNP.
Thoughts?

Take out the lictor- his rules say he has to be on the table the beginning of the turn for him to work. I think zanthropes fit the dropping from hell theme better than hive guard. Drop old adversary as it's not very effective in this list and you need more troops.

I'd also switch the Fexes over to double TL Devourers. 12 S6 shots will mess up enemy vehicles long enough for you to charge and destroy them, or utterly obliterate infantry. A single HVC shot on a BS3 platform may kill a vehicle... but you're spending 200+ points for that shot.

Agree with the above. Maybe keep one fex and HVC, but change the other to more dakka. Hive guard are not very drop nids from hell - go zoanthropes instead. Tervigon does not fit the list at all. Drop him and the lictor and get a trygon instead.

Hey, thanks for the help guys, I've edited my list to add in more objective taking troop choices, put in a Trygon and changed the Fexes' guns to 2x Twinlinked Devourers.
The Lictor is still in there as it will be the only troop on the ground (if you dont count the Flyrant) on Turn one, skulking at the back of the board and hidden, giving all Troops that deep strike in a 2+ role onTurn 2 when added to the Tyrant's Hive Commander ability.
This army currently comes in at 1525 points. Any ideas about shaving points? Cheers.
• HQ - Hive Tyrant, Wings, Heavy Venom Cannon, Hive Commander, 280 points
• Heavy Support – Carnifex with 2 Twin-linked Devourers with Brain Leech Worms in Mycetic Spore – 230 points
• Heavy Support – Carnifex with 2 Twin-linked Devourers with Brain Leech Worms in Mycetic Spore – 230 points
• Heavy Support - Trygon – 200 points
• Troops – 15 x Termagants in Mycetic Spore – 115 points
• Troops – 15 x Termagants in Mycetic Spore – 115 points
• Troops – 15 x Termagants with Devourers in Mycetic Spore – 190 points
• Elite 1 – 1 Zoanthrope in Mycetic Spore– 100 points
• Elite 2 – 1 Lictor – 65 points

The lictor won't be on the ground. It will be arriving from reserve. The entry in the codex under "Chameleonic skin" explains the rule fully. Drop the lictor.
Now I used to run a DS nids quite a lot. If you want to take the shooty approach I would suggest 2x2 Zoathropes in spods as well as a dakkafex and a trygon for some cc support. Throw in a tyrant with dakka and hive commander and then go nuts in the troops section (should have about 465pts left). You could even take a second fex and minimize your troops allowance since you will have a big wall of MC's just asking to take most of the punishment. Just be aware that psychic hoods can really ruin your day.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh I would also DS the tyrant. Just remember to DS him before the spods since it will reduce your chance of a mishap.

Podding Fexes are cool, but Trygons come in pairs for target redundancy - what one Pod Fex can do another can do too, I'd drop one and get another Trygon.
Not enough ranged anti tank and the Lictor is pretty useless in this army.

Drop lictor. Turn trygon into a prime - bang on 1,500 assuming your overall sums were correct.
Definitely are more deep strike/spore list than the original ...

If you're going to take a Lictor (which is a good idea) then take at least 3. 1 is just too fragile for a 1500 point game.

Still more zoanthropes and drop the lictor. Read his rules he's practically useless.

Taking a Lictor is a bad idea as the Tyrant will probably be on the board to use hive commander earlier, so if that single Lictor comes in on turn 4 then reserve bonus next turn is 2+ - which it would be anyway with the Tyrant. If the Tyrant deep strikes then hive commander won't be in use until turn 3 earliest, same as the Lictor, which then there is still no point taking the Lictor.

Still need double Trygons...the single Carnifex will work the same, Trygons will get hammered more as big scary beast with no cover saves. Still can deep strike too

So comparing my Dakkafex vs Trygon Prime you're getting:
12 x S6 shots a turn, 4 wounds and 9 + 2D6 vehicle AP for 230 points - Fex
12 x S5 shots a turn, 6 wounds and 6 + 2D6 vehcile AP for 240 points - Trygon Prime
For the Fex Against MEQ, 12 rerolled (twin-linked) shots at strength 6, hitting in a 2+ (assuming T4) would make up for the crappy BS3 stat. Similarly, that many shots at S6 could easily pop a skimmer/troop transport on the turn they land, while S5 shots would really be looking at penetrating on 6+ unless rolling on back armour.
I can see the advantage of having the extra two wounds and two CC attacks on the Prime as it may mean it sticks around longer than the fex, but both have T6 so can't be instagibbed.
So I'm torn between the longer-lasting and more attacks in assualt Trygon Prime vs the more powerful shootie and still pretty durable Dakkafex.
Bluerg. Any thoughts?

Swings and round abouts. Try the list with both (so one fex two Trygons and then two Fexes one Trygon) and take it from there

I guess it depends on your environment. I prefer the fexes now since I face a lot of mech and having 2 carnifexes dropping in with 12 TL S6 shots each really helps bust them open (or in some cases helps reduce the contents to nothing but a fine paste...looking at you CCS plasma).
Also remember that carnifexes are more likely to get cover...especially if you are careful with spod deployment.
As Mercer says, try both and see which you prefer.
