Why is it that 16 people have viewed this and ran away without telling you their question?

How many Flaming Spiders does it take to down an Ice Fly?

Oh why not. I ask all kinds of stupid questions on here, and if I get a semi-decent answer it will be worth the humiliation perhaps.

Those of you who've tuned into all of my threads know about my depressive streaks, and the fact that I spend a lot of time alone or with a non-verbal toddler who has a speech disorder. This leaves me reasonably lonely during my days. I work evenings, and I hopefully will be getting a different job soon where my hours are slightly more normal. I guess my question is how I can make friends that have similar interests. When I find someone I want to be friends with I tend to drive them away by being clingy. And I'm very self-conscious and afraid that I'm going to drive people away since our friends stopped hanging around us when our son was a year old. I kind of need help building self-esteem, confidence, and lessening my anxieties about talking to people.

I'm not sure how much help my answer is going to be, but I'm going to try.

I would say the answer is patience, to wait and find that rare person who accepts you for who you are, but I'm sure your probably sick of hearing that.

There's always the internet, it's got some good places for getting people together, even in non romantic ways.

You should also try talking to a shrink. I'm not saying your crazy, but sometimes talking to a professional can help you gain the social skills you need.
