Most fluff junkies have the names of the primary memorized. But most of these names, Guilliman, Russ, Lion El'Jonson, were names given by mortals.
Is there anything known about what the Emperor would have called the Primarchs had the Scattering never occurred?

just after Horus is named Warmaster...
Might be worth bearing these in mind, seeing as it appears to be becoming more obvious that the Emperor had quite sepcific roles already decided for each of his sons.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

Number one son
Number two son
Number three son
etc
The Emperor afterall is just called by his title, he seems to have no real name, I'm thinking he's not the imaginative type.

yeah, I'd get numerically as well. They'd have names like Primus, Segundus, Septimus, etc.

Either that, or names from Old Earth history. Perhaps famous generals or something.

Sanguinius? Because he can fly up and see further than the rest?

I would say Guileman is the distant perimeter because Macragge is next to the edge of current imperial space.

OMG IS PROSPERO BURNS OUT?!?!?! OMGOMGOMG!!!
Sorry. I really want to read that book.
Anyway, while the Emperor could have very well had roles planned for his sons, having identical names as the ones they received, (for example, the Jarl that found Leman Russ as a child specifically named him Leman of the Russ, ) would probably mean a substantial change in the way we view the scattering.
I find it far more likely that the names mentioned in the spoiler are simply so the reader can figure out who's being talked about, and the question raised in this thread is simply something the BL writers have not given thought to, or are not ready to reveal yet. Of course, not having read this glorious tome, I do not know the context of this particular passage.

See,
Well then, it seems that emperor only planned on having half the sons he actually had. Interesting...
