I think I remember seeing some tutorials on here once about how someone converted regular SM bikes into some really good jetbikes. Can anyone provide a link to these tutorials?

Thanks,

A quick search of "jetbike" in the Painting and Modeling Tutorials forum revealed insanik's jetbike conversion. this link is to his site http://www.underthecouch.net/tutorials/modelling-space-marine-jetbike-conversion/

This is the only imperial jetbike tutorial that I found on dakka. hope this is it!

I would be tempted to add a front prow to the design to make it resemble the ravenwing jetbike a little more without all the dark angels decoration to make it look more standardised

How would you make it more Ravenwing like, as mullet_steve described? Some sort of extra armour making like a peak or something?

Get the front prow from a BFG ship and use that?

Hmm, good idea, although buying a whole fleet just for the bows would be a bit costly.

get one ship you like and cut the front of to cast. a latex mould and some car body fibre glass resin and you can cast as many as you would reasonably need. remember if your doing it for your own modeling project you can copy whatever you like. I used to be afraid a member of GW staff would pick up one of my cast and modified mega nobs and realise it was resin untill one of them did and laughed at the expression of absolute terror that was on my face, thought I was going to get Banned or sued that was many moons ago now.

edit to make sure you only buy and use the resin not the fibreglass that goes with it!

I use Micromark stuff. Their starter kit got me up and rinning with some of my custom bitz ive made.

Takes some getting used to, but you'll have that with any casting set.

I would suggest with something this basic you go to a hobbycraft or similar shop and buy some thick latex then get over to a auto parts and repair shop like halford or automart and buy the resin they sell for fibreglass repairs it should come with catalist or buy seperately mount the prow of the ship on a board and paint with layers of the thick latex untill its 2-3mm thick let it dry then talc the outside to stop it sticking to itself and peel off the part mix up the resin according to the guide on the bottle remember to use some sort of release agent like vasoline brushed into the mould and pour the resin into the mould shake or if you can cut a hole in an old shoe box or something similar mount the mould into the hole put the box ontop of your washing machine on a spin cycle plenty of good vibrations comming off of that especialy if its loaded! this should remove most of the bubbles

Here's the final result after a couple of hours of cutting and chopping. Considering it's my first ever attempt at plasticard modelling, I'm pretty pleased with the result.

Obviously still a WiP at the moment.

I like it! Great bang for your buck there, but if it's for orks, you might want to orky it up a little. A glyph here, a bolted on plate there - don't overdo it, but it nudges it from "Lookey 'ere boyz, I just nabbed dis zoomie bike from der pink-skinz!" to "Lookey 'ere Boss, I mek'ed up dem bikes we stolez from der pink-skins right good!"

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
