tittle made it quite clear. Now I have been playing fallout 3 for a long time, and I am about to get New Vegas, I came to think. What of Fallout games could be made in a tabletop version? I only have Fallout 3 without the exta add ons for playstation 3, and that's where you come in. I could really do with some information on the different factions throughout all the Fallout games.
Now I haven't got a clue on how to realise this on tabletop. I want something with a necromunda aspect. You know, with making gangs/raider parties/ Brotherhood of steel exploration group/...
I haven't got many information on any of the types of ingame groups. That's where I need your help first.
I wanna get the fluff done before I start thinking about rules.
This is just meant to be played with friends, it's not supposedto put online or sell.
so, any ideas, do able or not kinda things are welcome.

Well damn! I'd had this idea recently too! Although I wasn't silly enough to not buy the Game of the Year edition! Silly Scrazza, it comes with all of the expansion packs!
Seriously, though, this would be so damn hard to do. Sure, I 'spose the rules wouldn't be so bad, but freaking modelling the terrain and heck even getting suitable models would be pretty hard. I mean lets face it, an Ork boy just isn't going to cut it for a super mutant, nor will a [Chaos] Space Marine make it as an Enclave soldier/Brotherhood of Steel Initiate/Knight/Paladin/whatever.
And then the robots. The damned robots..
Basically, the whole thing would be far too hard to actually represent, in my opinion. So sadly, I'm not sure you'll get too far with this project. But hey, it is possible, it'd just be incredibly hard.

I would tell you to use the necromunda ash wastes rules. your still going to have to make a bunch of house rules, but since necro isn't supported anymore the majority of people do anyway. For the robots use the ash wastes vehicles rules as a base for damage and maintenance, instead of hit the driver/crew make a new category or have damage default elsewhere. Since robots don't gain experience make new vehicle upgrades for appropriate costs.

Thanks for the advise, but I won't use ash wastes. Because I don't have the rules, and I don't want to hunt them down.
I just met Reilly's Rangers in Fallout 3. Second character in FO3, but only now discovered them. I'd want to put them in game. They look military, with green combat armor. So, simple modern day models, modified to fit in with the post apocaliptic time of Fallout 3, they should make a nice new faction. I realy like the idea behind them. Mapping the area, Makes for good rules, for mercenaries, treasure hunters, simple explorers.
I'll look for some suitable models for this game, and I'll put them here.

Reilly's Rangers have Black armour . But if you can represent their armour on the table, you've got Talon as well, right there. Plus combat armour, I believe.

Meh, maybe they changed it. There are quite a few differences between the original game and Gotye, for example in Gotye, Dogmeat is invincible for me.
No kidding. Anyways, you should really get Winterized T-51b armour. Non-degradable helmet + armour ftw.

Gotye is Game of The Year Edition - Original game + all expansion packs, as well as tweaks here and there.
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
T-51b is the power armour from the original Fallout games, and as far as I know there are only two in the game. One you can get in the original Fallout 3 game in Fort Constantine, but you need the keys from the quest You Gotta Shoot 'em in The Head, otherwise some Ghoul dude knicks the armour. This set has DR 50 for the main armour, and the helmet is something like 10 or 12.
Winterized T-51b you can get from Operation: Anchorage expansion pack. It only has DR 45 and the helmet is only about DR 10, but it degrades incredibly slowly. It went down in like 4 caps value in about two weeks of use. And you can just repair it at a shop or something.

For what, like £5? Not even worth selling, my friend. Just like it wasn't worth a Game shop I went to last weekend having Gotye next to a Fallout: 3 game that only included 2 expansion packs.
You're better off keeping your old game, besides, with Gotye, you can just install the second disc that has the expansion packs on. Then again, starting anew is no bad thing, but I'm sure you don't really want to loose all of your progress?

oke, so it's possible. I thought you couldn't install the upgrade packs from that one disk to the other. But I'll do that. It'll cost me another 30 euro's, but buying them off Playstation Store (Playstation Network) costs me around 60 euros.
Sorry for this Video game discussion, nut because I use the game for inspiration, it's nesecary

Necessary*
Anyways, I don't DEFINITELY know that it is possible just to take the one disc, but I guess it should work. Then again, to stop people lending that disc to friends and their friends' friends and their friends' friends' friends and their friends' friends' friends' mothers, they probably do link it to the CD key, so yeah, you might actually have to re-install the whole thing.
But hey, Dogmeat is invincible in my Gotye (seriously!) so maybe it has its benefits. Besides, it's probably (pretty much dead certainly) possible to transfer your saved games over.

Yes. When you see him, there'll be three raiders standing around him. Well, for a short time, atleast.
Seriously, that dog is invincible. There was almost no point in taking the Puppies! perk, considering he can't die. I mean a Behemoth super mutant smacked him in the face and all it did was knock him down for ten seconds. Then he was up again and biting its leg off. And he had only, once again, taken 2 bars of health damage.

Looking at previous iterations of this idea could be helpful for you:
Old discontinued Fallout RPG:
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Pen_and_Paper_d20
Fallout skirmish scale game:
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_Warfare
I'd suggest rolling Fallout 1 and 2 weapons and units in there as well, but that's because they rocked.

Ahh Fallout. I love these games. But I digress; you asked for information on the different factions in Fallout 3, yes? A good website to check might be the Fallout Wiki. But I can summarize for you.
The Brotherhood of Steel - your prototypical space marine types, if you will. There are two splinter factions in the game. There are the Outcasts, whose mission is to recover and preserve lost technology, and the main body of the Brotherhood, who claim to want to pacify the wastes, ie killing Super Mutants, Raiders and the like. In all honesty, the Outcasts have remained closer to the Brotherhood's original mission statement. The units present in the DC Wasteland are really a splinter group of the larger organisation themselves, who have gone off mission because of Elder Lyons personal beliefs.
Raiders - Psychotic arseholes pretty much sums up these charming fellows. They just live to kill, steal from, torture or rape (in no particular order) anyone unlucky enought to cross their path.
Super Mutants - Not that much different from the Raiders, other than that whole twice the size and greenish thing. Most of them are as thick as two planks, but there are notable exceptions.
Riley's Rangers - Mercs who are currently employed mapping the wastes ... when they're not begging for rescue from total strangers after getting themselves stranded on top of a building filled with Super Mutants.
Talon Company - Mercs again, but these are of the mean-spirited arsehole variety.
Regulators - Roving goody two-shoes, but not the turn the other cheek kind. No, these friendly lads and lasses will shoot you in the head if you've been a naughty boy or girl.
The Enclave - The self appointed remnants of the US government, much in the same way as the Brotherhood is descended from the US Army. They seem benign enough, up until they try and vaporize you with one of their fancy plasma weapons.
Slavers - Hailing out of Paradise Falls, these charming chaps aren't interested in killing you ... no, they'd rather take you alive and make a profit from selling you into slavery. Who'da thunk it, coming from a group that calls themselves slavers.
Rivet City Security - Peacekeepers, on Rivet City anyway. In game terms I could see them chasing perps into the wilderness, attacking threats to Rivet City etc.
The Temple of the Union - As escaped slaves, they'd make good, as well as natural enemies of the slavers.
Ghouls - Of the non-feral variety, I suppose. Although, if you were going along the lines of Necromunda, Feral Ghouls could be used in a similar fashion as plague zombies were used by Scavvies.
Then there's a general hodgepodge of scavengers, settlers, junkies, vault dwellers and whatnot, along with forces from the likes of Tenpenny Tower, and roving merchants. That's plenty of factions to use for a gaming system, not even counting all the robots.
Or the NCR.
Hope this helps, and if you want any more help, just ask.
Cheers,
Paul.

Eh, really you should just either do The Capitol Wasteland or New Vegas (and the wasteland around there) because putting the two together would just be silly. Sure, write rules and then include profiles for the different factions, but it's best not to mix say, Rivet City security guards with those crazy Roman blokes from NV. Essentially what I'm saying is, write the rules, then have New Vegas and The Capitol Wasteland as add-ons or expansions. Edited to change Capital to Capitol.

You could always do it like a Rpg, Have one main character and have a squad with him of 9 or how ever you want the game to be. the main character can gain skills and perks.
he will have more HP then others like say starts out with 30 Hp and your squad members start out with 15 but make the weapons do some interesting things. Like a sucky pistol can do D4 damage but a stronger one can do D4+1 and have some kinda of cool rule, and each ranged weapon can have diffrent ranges they can shoot but may make it harder to hit.
you could also do like dark heresy and roll what body part you hit. and see if it goes through that armor to wound.
Since armor is a big part in fall out you could try this
Say you roll a D6 and get a 3 and its your characters chest. and say hes got on Raider Armor which is like a Armor rating of 2, if your character hits and everything goes to plan and is using the sucky pistol he'd roll the D4 to see how much damage he'd take, lets say he did and rolled a 3 so the Raider armor would take 2 away and that character takes 1 damage.
Since its like fallout during the game you can search terrain for ammo or armor nuka cola to give you better stats for a certain amount of turns, things like that
I know it sounds like it would take forever to kill someone but it you did the Energy based gameplay i think it would be alot of fun.

Yeah, thanks Cody. I was going for something with HP. Like you said, start with around 30HP and have different damage weapons.
But it's still in the making. I got the basic lines, but I don't have the rules writen for them. Still working on it though.

Thanks for the help, mate. Yeah I am going for 28mm. You, know the simplest models to represent Reily's Rangers with, are just Imperial Guardsmen. And well, I can search Infinity, Urban Mamoth and many other companies of which I know their models are available in Belgium.
