I have just made a points list for my army and it turns out I only have 1708 points which means me and my friend cannot do a 2000 point game which disapointed me . what I dont understand is why my marines come to 355Pts Theres 15 of them but like 5 have "special" weapons which after I had built and painted them I found out you cant have em'.

I really need to get some more marines about 4 more boxes aswell as rhinos for them , these 15 marines are going to be my "meat sheild" , then I need more beserkers then I will have 20 , more termies ( I want to get the world eaters conversion on forge world for them ) , I think my friends getting me some thousand sons and other friend ahirman . soo I sound sorted for the future

Ummm.... why did you post.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

What's the point of this thread?

Don't make dumb decisions when you get your marine boxes, that would solve your problems. Be realistic. Don't throw the doom siren, the dozer blade and the havoc launcher on your rhinos. Don't use the heavy bolter from the CSM set. blablahblah.

Go buy troops choices, and work your way up. That's the best thing to do for CSM. I ended up buying my land raider, defiler and daemon prince first, and then bought my troops, which was a terrible idea...Why would you want the world eaters conversion set? Khorne terminators suck, unless you throw lightning claws on them. Ahriman is garbage, as are thousand sons, unless that's your entire army. They were much better in 3rd edition, where nothing under S5 could hit them.

@Samus_aran115: Thousand Sons in 3rd Ed had a second wound and the most expensive mark in the codex. You might be thinking of Death Guard who got the +1 T. I agree with the sentiment though, every sergent has a 3rd edition psychic power? Yes please!

No, I'm not. I've got my 1999 codex right here. It says:

Special rule: All is Dust- "only shooting attacks of strength 5 or more will affect a thousand sons chaos space marine"

They also had another wound, but no invul save.... Personally, They were the best unit in the codex. For the same price as a current plague marine, you got something that was immune to almost all convential weaponry (lasguns, bolters, shurikens, etc)...Which forced your opponent to use heavier stuff to bring them down...Which was ineffective in the long run due to their extra wound.

Did I mention....You could possibly take 9 units of them

You two might have different Chaos books. There's the 3rd ed codex, then the 3.5 codex they released because the regular 3rd ed codex was broken so hard.

Chosen can get 5 weapons.

although it won't be the best loadout if they are all different.

Ah, I see. Yeah, the thousand sons in 3.5 kind of sucked. It seems like they deliberately nerfed them

they got nerfed hard, but the good news is that, with the Op-ness of 5th Ed codex's, they will likely get made really broken again.
