I have 6 in the list. I could run 3 pairs or two triples. Which is best? A minor thing, I suppose, but the RTT environment is pretty tough and this is a new army to me.

I can *think* of good reasons for both (splitting fire, resilience, less KPs, etc), but I'd like to hear from experience which actually pans out as a better grouping.

A little background; I'm an experienced (6 years) 40k player, SM, tau, Eldar, & bugs. The rest of the 2k list is what I see on many, many lists of traitor marines, 2 DPs (one lash) & 4 troops in rhinos.

How best to group (and use)? And yes, I know Lash + PlasCans is the obvious Combo of the Day.

I asked the same question when I just started playing I have found that the more groups there are the better. Yes you give more KP, but you can shoot at different targets and it becomes relevant more often than you imagine. It also allows you to split weapon choices.

This is the same strategy with Crisis Suits, which I have much experience with.

I would probably go with 3 pairs (unless you would like to squeeze another heavy support into the list). The reasons for this:

Greater tactical flexibility - you can target up to 3 different enemy units for destruction (vs 2 in the 2 triplet option)

Easier to hide - not that big of a deal really (difference of 1 40mm base)

More risk conducive (you can take a risk with one unit of oblits by deep striking into a tight spot without significantly affecting your overall firepower if something goes wrong)

3 Pairs is always better if you have the HS slot, I run 2x3 because I usually need the HS slot for a Land Raider.
