The website video seems to not be loading, but the youtube clip worked. Voice acting is great, but I think the armor is too bright and shiny.

Nevermind, that website video loaded. HOLY HELL, the bolter fire is LOUD! Also, the Harley landspeeder. Looks okay to me.

The website clip renewed my faith in the movie. It looks bleh, but at least the cliche storyline seems to have a somewhat interesting storyline rather than simply being all bolter porn.

Hah, yeah. I jumped when the bolter discharged. I had my sound all the way up to hear the conversation.

Now that's more like the discharge of a bolter.

Sounds like they recorded an actual gun discharge, shotgun maybe? I prefer DoW2 bolter sounds because it's an odd sort of gun to make a normal noise, but eh.

I desperately want to see the multi-melta on the landspeeder fire. I can picture how mostly all 40K universe weapons would look and sound when fired except the multi-melta.

As for how the landspeeder sounds... My first impression was pod-racers from Star Wars Episode 1. Which doesn't really work for me. I always imagined them sounding more like the Star Wars Imperial Speeder Bikes.

The sound was very clear but I have to agree on the landspeede soundr... too motorcycle and heavy to sound like it's an anti-grav vehicle from the future. Of course, we don't want to hear the Jetson's vehicle sounds either!

That bolter sounds just how the books describe it, which is totally okay by me. Good sound design goes a long way. The animation is still kinda hokey in every clip, but I can accept that given the budget.

Both of those movie clips still state "Released On November 29". Shipping is finally just starting according to some people today, December 8. I'm still waiting for the "good news". The clips look like fun and I'm looking forward to seeing the whole thing soon.

Oh man, i really hope this movie end up on TV...

And about the history: it can sound cliche for us Fans, but its is very classical and give the feeling of the Universe to people who never knew anything about it...

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

My copy of the movie came in the mail today. Interestingly, the package was shipped from Howell, Michigan. I just finished watching it for the first time and am peeking at the extra features disc now.

Was the movie any good?

I enjoyed it, and I didn't even have to get liquored up!

But seriously though, it was good. Not going to win an oscar good, but good for 40k. Voice acting was the best part, really gave some depth to the characters. Animation is what it is, but it's more than passable for what the movie needed to do. Storyline was more interesting than what I thought it would be, and there was a lot of neat stuff that worked different than I had been imagining while reading the fluff all these years.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,

MegaDave

Ditto. I enjoyed it a lot. It's a bit simplistic, but then, so is 40K. The voice acting is terrific. The animation adequate. The atmosphere dark and miserable as GW created it. I think now that I know what to expect, I'll enjoy it even more on repeat viewings where I can start to pick out fun details I didn't have a chance to catch the first time through.

I already watched some of the extra features and they are quite good. Very interesting and entertaining in their own right. Oh, one of the extra features has footage from Games Day US 2010 in Baltimore.

One more thing, forget watching this on a tiny screen with a tiny speaker, watch it on your biggest TV and with a 5.1 sound system. The 5.1 soundtrack sounds FANTASTIC on a 5.1 system. You'll hear all kinds of stuff going around and behind you, it's quite well done.

You, of course, don't get to see the MM fired in the Ultramarines movie.

But I totally agree, I'd love to see that weapon firing visualized. Since it is essentially a mircro-wave gun I always imagine if you were trying to visualize it and make it 'fun' it would kind of look like a laser except that it doesn't shoot but rather the whole line of the 'laser' would heat up all at once and then the target would just vaporize/melt in a big 'pop'.

So the weapon would hum and heat up for a second or two, and then you'd get this bright laser like 'beam' and 'POW' the target would melt/pop. That's what's always been in my imagination even though a true micro-wave gun would probably do something totally different IRL.

I dunno about this. Might have to wait for others to review. The voice of Terence Stamp, to me, is just wrong. These are warriors from the 40K universe, brought up from an early age to fight etc, etc. His voice just seems too polite.

The crap about "first time nerves trigger finger" is total bollocks. According to the fluff Space Marines serve in hundreds of battles as Scouts and Devastator squads first before they even form a tactical squad so I am a bit dissapointed that they even use this line.

I am not going to be a fan boy but I am not going to slag it off if it is half decent but what I have seen so far is a bit, er, .. crap.

If I am not in my room, is it still my room?
