Subject: Question regarding Warlocks

 |
Deadly Dire Avenger
|
Im a bit confused... I was watching some battle reports and heard someione rolling Armor saves on Warlocks.. so I took my Codex and to my surprise... conflicting information.
On page 64, you see warlocks in guardians and guardians on jet bikes. They are written Sv 4+ (3+ for jetbikes cuz of speed)
but on page 60 in the Warlocks square it says Sv -
So.. do warlocks have or dont have armor saves?
Since every other mention of the warlocks have mention of Armor save I'd go with they have 4+ armor and 4+ Invul
What do you guys think?

No my avatar is not one of my unit, its a very nice work of conversion wouldn't you say? |

Answer is simple.
In a guardian squad: it has a 4+ save
In a jetbike squad: it has a 3+ save
In a farseer bodyguard: it has only it's 4+ invulnerable.

Its a muck up in the Guardian and Support weapon squads. They have a save listed but then say see page 25 for Wargear and Options. That means they have Rune Armour which is an invulnerable save. The 3+ when in a Jetbike squad, or just on jetbikes, is from having a jetbike, see page 40.

The only "hobby" GW is interested in is lining their pockets with your money.

Wow, I hadn't noticed this issue before. I assume it's a mistake on GW's part.
It appears that Warlocks in a Warlock squad do not have an armor save, just their 4+ invul.
Warlocks in a Guardian, Wraithguard, or Support Weapon Battery squad have a 4+ armor save as well as a 4+ invul. (This is what is a mistake by GW)
Warlocks in a Jetbike squad have a 3+ armor save as well as a 4+ invul.

I have another discrepency..
The wrigthsight rules state:
...if the wraithguard unit is not within 6" of a friendly psyker.
But the rule from the warlock state that if you take the spiritseer upgrade you dont need to do wraithsight.
It sound like a warlock which is not a spiritseer is not a psyker.
Those are contradictory...
I assume tho that warlock DO need the spirit seer upgrade and that the wraightsight rule should be read like that
...if the wraithguard unit is not within 6" of a friendly farsser or spiritseer

There's no contradiction there. Regular Warlocks are psykers, and allow Wraithguard to ignore Wraithsight within 6". Spiritseers work at a 12" range, and also allow Wraithguard to be taken as Troops.

Warlocks are psykers. As are Harlequin Shadowseers.
Spiritseers are specifically trained psykers for the purpose of leading Wraithguard/lord so this is an upgrade. Spiritseers mean the wraithsight check is automatically passed.

No. Wraithsight requires a roll if you don't have a friendly psyker within 6". This includes Farseers, Warlocks, Eldrad. The Spirit Seer upgrade increases the range to 12" for that Warlock. Edit: Ninja'd!
