I've read the Dakka articles, but the Widowmaker Marksman isn't mentioned at all. Since the Solo isn't listed as an option for the Blood of Heroes theme, is it safe for me to assume that I would not be able to include it in the theme list? I've also checked the recent Mk2 Errata pdf. It just seemed strange to me that Widowmakers would be a valid choice, but the Marksman wouldn't.

I assume that it depends on the phrasing of the theme list.

If it says "Widowmakers" instead of "Widowmaker Units", then he would be included?

Bam, said the lady!

Under the "Units" column, it does say "Widowmakers". There is nothing listed under the "Solos" column, however.

I'll have to check the book. I didn't include theme forces for the articles yet. Another
thing to get around to.

www.forwardkommander.com says no to Widowmaker Marksmen in eVlad's tier list.

But it also doesn't apply the FA bonus to Iron Fang Uhlans... Not that that has anything to do with my question, of course.

Rules as written or from an infernal or a well thought out responce/answer will be 7000 times more reliable than citing forwardkommander as a source for an answer IMO.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I knew there was something I was supposed to check.

Doh. My bad. I'm still a Warmachine noob. Sounds like forwardkommander is even less trustworthy than ArmyBuilder. I did not know - I retract my statement.

I wouldn't say less trustworthy. The points there are correct as far as I can tell. That's a step up from AB.

When you have room for translation error, it's never going to be as reliable as the actual printed book/rules. It is pretty spot on with points and tier lists usually though, other than a few mistakes (which are pointed out on the blog in the comments section each time there is an update).

Some are off. I learned the hard way that Amon's theme force doesn't include wracks. I even
factored it into builds I made using pen and paper, but somehow I forgot it when I was
working on the list in forwardkommander.

^^^ I wanted so bad to run an amon theme list, but it just seems so terrible to me.

71 pts khador - 6 war casters
41 pts merc highborn - 3 warcasters

I took another look at the book, and this time, I didn't make the mistake of ignoring the other theme lists. Other lists specifically state Widomakers under "Units" and Widowmaker Marksman under "Solos". Therefor, I do believe it's safe to say that eVladimir does not get to have Marksmen in his themed army.
