Subject: moving over 6" and firing

Currently at my FLGS, with the rise of Dark Eldar popularity, people are trying to shoot their guns when moving over 6". I have tried telling them that they cannot but they insist that they can... I was wondering if I was reading that rule correctly or was there an exception to this rule...
Possible exceptions: Open Topped, Fast Vehicles, Fast Vehicles that are open topped, Special wargear...

I have to admit, I miss the old Infantry battles of 4E compared to this 5E wonderland of APCs/IFVs everywhere. It's like we jumped from WWI to WWII.

Its a common misconception of the rules. People think that fast vehicles can fire 1 weapon at 12" instead of 6" like normal vehicles, that then embarked units can fire while moving 12" as well. Unfortunatly the rule only states that troops can fire when moving combat speed. This is all that is written - there is no exception for fast vehicles. Automatically Appended Next Post: If you have problems, just point to the rule about troops firing from transports at combat speed, then kindly ask them to point out the rule where it says they may fire when moving cruising speed (hint: it doesn't exist)

No. There are no exceptions that allow a transport to move at Cruising speed and have the passengers fire their guns.

Page 66 BGB: "Models firing from a vehicle count as moving if the vehicle moves, and may not fire at all if the vehicle moved at Cruising speed that turn."
There are no exceptions or changes at all for Fast, Skimmer, Open Topped, Walker, etc
If players at your FLGS insist passengers can fire if a vehicle moves more than 6", hand them a rule book and say "Show me where it says that."

Show your fellow gamers the rule for passengers shooting out of a vehicle. Then kindly ask them to show the rule that over rides this. They will not find it, you win!

Agreed. But you can shoot if you disembark, correct?
Ex. Chimera moves 12", guard get out, and can shoot (albeit rapid fire)

Absolutely; And Assault weapons on all your models is the best Choice for a drop and Pop: Kabalite Truborn dropping out of a raider or venom with all Carbines; PCS with 4 grenade launchers dropping out of the Chimera onto an objective, 10 Sternguard dumping out of a Rhino with Combi's, etc.
This also works well when you have closed-topped transports with limited firing ports(such as the a fore mentioned rhino, or a razorback) allowing you to move up 12"(often well within rapid fire range) and fire with more troops than you would have been able to had you moved 6"(and still been in range).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I find the look of surprise that some people have on their faces is priceless as you move 12",disembark and unload rapid fire plus any special weapons into the nearest/chosen target.
