They're pretty good. I think you should read the Eisenhorn stuff first though. Ravenor is a spin off of that series.

I didn't see that in the store. What is the eisenhorn all about?

Eisenhorn is an Inquisitor and Ravenor's mentor. The stories are basically the same kind of thing. The Inquisitor leads his rag-tag band of henchmen around the galaxy fighting heretics and daemons etc. The Ravenor trilogy takes place after the Eisenhorn series (also available as an Omnibus) when Ravenor has become a full-fledged Inquisitor with his own team of miscreants.

"Novels", not "novel's" - plurals don't need apostrophes, that's for contractions and possessives.

I read a Ravenor short story a while ago and it was rather good. Echoing the sentiment that you should read the Eisenhorn books first though.

I grabbed the big book a while ago. It was a little odd in the sense that every individual book reminded me somewhat of The Usual Suspects. When I finished the book (or books I suppose), it seemed as though it took a longish time to get from start to finish, though the flow was largely alright while I was reading them.

It's definitely more of an undercover Inquisitor angle, but pretty well done.

Having not read the Eisenhorn books, I can tell you that Arschbombe is quite correct. Reading that series first will make the Ravenor series go more smoothly. Diving into Ravenor without reading Eisenhorn reminded me of the days when I first read Tolkien and started with Lord of the Rings rather than The Hobbit. The story is still readable and quite good, but you definitely get more out of it once you've read the prequel.

Definitely worth the read. Also agreeing to read the Eisenhorn books first as they set the stage for Ravenors series.
