Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes
|
Me and a friend are confused on the rules, if any, on using models without the model.
Example-
I play a game with Space Marines. I want to use chief Librarian Tigurus, but lack the actual model. I pick up another minituare, with all the same wargear the Librarian has, and pay the correct points.
Of course the same does not apply for using a Hormogaunt as a Trygon, but is that example "Legal"?

works for me!
seriously, as long as you properly designate him (paint job, banner, pointing him out to your opponent, etc), a similar model will "count as" the proper one, as long as he is appropriately outfitted. sounds like yours is, so, let hammer!

Generally this is refereed to as "count-as" and 99% of the people you will play against will have absolutely no problem with it.

Your only requirements for a model to be legal are:
1) It is a Citadel miniature
2) You mount it on the base it came with
3) You follow WYSIWYG in terms of wargear for Characters
4) You pay the proper point costs for your choice
You easily fulfill all 4 of these requirements, so no problems! Just make sure to mention the swap to your opponent.

I have Duke Nukem for my Sly Marbo, no complaints from anyone:
As long as it's pretty obvious what counts as what, there shouldn't be an issue. If you had two of the same Librarian model on the field and only one was Tigurius, then you might have a problem. Otherwise, go nuts.

I have a converted Sgt. Bastionne and Captain Al-rahem. No one has complained yet. As long as you do something with them to make them obviously not just another bald-and-screaming pleb, most people wouldn't find it an issue. That goes double for things for which models don't actually exist. Just make sure to point it out pre-game.

It says in the rulebook that as long as they have the same wargear and are the same army model wise and point it out it is fine. So in your case a librarian model (Painted blue for bonus Wysiwyg points lol! Unless of course you have previously stated in your backround that librarians are not blue) with big 'rod', bolt pistol and psychic hood IS for all intents and purposes Tigurius. The definition for wysiwyg from GW is 'Nothing that will confuse your opponent' (upon pointing out your stand-in).

I've got the old jump pack chaplain from the metal death company box, Don't see any need to buy the model for Chaplain Lemartes and nobody else even notices a difference.
