Couple players in my area are looking to put together some Razorwing Flocks. Wondering what people are using for those and/or the other beasts that Dark Eldar can take and would love to see some pictures.

Idea I had for the Razorwings was Scarabs with the vents cut off and blades to replace them. They aren't alive perse but it's something I could see those crazy DE making. Also I get the feeling that Chaos Warbeasts will be popular Kymerae but I have no clue for a claw fiend. Hope that helps!

Ohhh! And all on 40mm bases!

I'm looking at using the old metal rippers with gargoyle wings to help a friend make some Razorwings myself for the record.

I know a perfect Clawed Fiend model.

That's a 40mm base it's on FYI.

Khymeras can probably be made from Chaos Warhounds and gluing on random bitz. The basic warhound is already a pretty big biological mashup as it is.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Chaos Warhounds sound like they'd be pretty good bets. If you wanted something gooftastic looking you could always get a Razorgor from the Beastmen range!

Warhounds or Dire Wolves kitbashed with Spider Riders make good Khymerae that appear similar to those in the Codex. Use spider faces on hounds, with spider claws arching over their shoulders.

Razorwings, it says they like to carry around the skeletons of their eaten foes, so I'd go with that. Have skeletons suspended in mid air by plasticard cutouts of black birds.

As it turns out, I've got a couple of near-perfect stand-ins for Khymerae.
I used a couple of Chaos Hounds as base models for sparn a while back. By adding a few bits from the Chaos Spawn sprue and some greenstuff, I changed them up.
I think they'd be good stand-ins.

I've also heard of people using winged rippers for razorfiends.

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

I'm using fantasy bat swarms for razorwings, warhounds for khymerae. They get the job done.

I saw a thread/article somewhere and can't for the life of me remember where.

The author suggested fantasy batswarms, Chaos Hounds and a model, I believe, was called "Fiend of the woods" or somesuch. It looked really cool too.

EDIT.

There we are!

Those bats are the most God-awful, hideous things I've ever seen.
And I've owned "cast-your-own" LEAD models whose barely-defined noses were smashed flat!

They look like something from the Muppets- like they should be bouncing up and down on polls singing.

I really like the Warmachine model- that looks excellent.

I have recently been diagnosed with swelling in the brain, so please excuse spelling mistakes and faulty sentences. I am losing my ability to type and talk effectively, but dammit, that is not going to stop me from trying.

I had an idea for Razorwings that might work, but not being a Tyranid player, I am not sure if the parts will mesh up. I was thinking of buying a box of Gargoyles and a box of Hormagaunts and putting the gaint claws on the Gargoyles. I could then put the Gargoyle guns on the gaunts and sell 'em cheap to a 'nid player as Termagaunts. Not sure if the arm sizes are correct though. Pretty sure the claws on the Gargoyles is fine, not sure about the Gargoyle arms on the gaunts though - anyone know if this would work?

Where is the Fiend of the Woods model from?
