I’ve heard from somewhere on one of these forums that something called a "warp whale" flew two close to the tyranids home world and was taken over by the Hive Mind, and in doing so created the first of the hive ship… so I have a couple of questions:

1. For starters, what is a warp whale? And where does it’s fluff originate (i.e. first edition, second, third, space hulk, ect)?

2. Is this fan made or sanctioned by GW, (or even a part of the 40k community)?

3. Why have I never heard of this: “warp whale”?

4. And lastly, what does a warp whale do, and what is some of the fluff surrounding it, and what is it’s place in 5th ed?

Void Whale, not warp whale. Mentions of them are few and far between, I've heard this mention of the first hive ship theory before, but I've never seen an official source. Don't know where it originates, but theres a pic of it in the orks section of the 5th ed. rulebook (the big one, not the mini black reach one).

vulger yet that kinda makes a twisted bit of sense, however not pertaining to the tyranids fluff.

Probably some sort of void traveling creature, a huge one.

I know that there is mention of them in the 4rth edition Ork codex, Kaptain Badrukk slayed one single handed if I recall correctly.

Some void born creature, not much is known about them, what is known is found in the ork codex.

Better to let them think you a fool, then open your mouth and proof them right.

The SW codex has a short description of what happens when one gets stick inside the warp for a while.

Also a description of how to kill them. You just need a heavily armed SW great company.
