Hello once again people of the internets, I am here today endevouring to begin a blog or whatever else you might call this featuring the painting and expansion of my Warhammer beastmen army, as it stands now I have little more then the original battallion box that I bought, thought the grand majority of the contents have been painted. The background of my army is that they are based out of the black fire pass, which is a major trade route through the mountains, and thus has a convenient constant stream of prey and loot, and rarely any lack of a good fight as people try to get through the mountains.

So to start off a little overall pic of my army.

So as you can see here I'm not great at taking pics :p most of the rest are better though, and the basic deep earthtone color scheme used for my army. As it stands I run this models with only one of the heroes at about 700 points.

Next a beleive it behooves me to display the great leadership behind my great herd, first the great Beastlord!

Once again, not the best picture, I just love this model though, He has a very icon look, standing proud at the head of the army great mane flapping in the wind. I would like to call attention to the horns as a nice element of the model, done in a three color blend.

And here is the first Bray-shaman, I expect to have at least to, but for now this great shaman brings the word of the herdstone to all the herd.

This is a pretty good model, if I do say so myself, It was converted from the chariot driver from a tuskgor chariot, mostly just involving mouting it on a base, warping the spear and adding chopped up bits of an ungor banner to make it into a braystaff and swapping the whip for an axe, in the painting I tried to givve the eyes a bit of a glow effect and added some freehand runes to the axe and the strips of banner, the symbol featured on the left side of the axe is my particular herd icon, adapted from such images shown on standards in the army book.

Next the rank and file, here are the gors who make up the bulk and centre of the army.

This picture... is fairly overexposed, but still allows you to see the brown and black coloration of the great beasts of black fire pass, as you may notice they have a wide variety of arms, some using two weapons and some using a shield, as my army expands further I will be seperating these two out, so that I can field units with accurately portrayed weapons.

Following them are the ungor raiders, fierce annoying little buggers that they are. With an excellent ambush record, for turning up in the right place at least.

I really like the way these models come out, appearing sort of unsure of what their bows actually are, with only a few seeming to know what they're doing, which definately well represents their track record.

And next up is the greatest of the great, the proud elite of the herd, the grand bestigors, by far the most usefull unit I have and the most in need of being increased in size, doubled in fact.

Once again, overexposed, I'll take some individual pics of a good model or two later, anyway, you can see the dark black iron plate strapped across buldging mustles the great weapons lofted into the air, some rent from the shoulderblades of great beasts brought down from the herd.

Then the great beasts lumbering about the edges of the camps of the herd, the dark terrors of the ungors and shambling horrors on the battlefield, Chaos spawn.

on the left we have the warped former average member of the herd, perhaps even a former leader who asked too much of the great gods and was given everything he asked, as you can see metal blades have grown to protrude from his body and replaced the fingers of his right hand with steel talons, now he lumbers foreward, seeking only food to ease the pain of the changes still wracking his body. On the right is a more mysterious beast, coming to the herd from without, stalking the edges of the camp and dragging the careless away to their doom, in battle he surges along, with every step his bones seeming to warp foreward, almost tearig from his body in eagerness to rend and devour, blood drooling constantly from his swirling maw.

And to finish up the as of yet incomplete conversions, firstly my personal attempt at slugtongue.
[/img]
He's based on a mounted sorcerer of chaos model, I thought the look of the model fit slugtongue so closely to begin with that I didn't actually do too much converting, just the addition of some more warped horns and of course filling in the space the horse would have been with greenstuff and the addition of hooves.

And finally my Beastmen BSB.

I thought the bestigor from the tuskgor chariot was an excellent looking model and definately deserved the upgrade into BSB, I took the head of his axe off and expaned it into a banner pole with some leftover arm bits then seeing as I had the leftover axe head I thoght to model him as having just set down his axe to loft a trophy, showing it off to the herd to help embolden them and spurn them foreward.

And that's pretty much where I stand at the moment, there are a few more pics in my Dakka gallerey, different angles and such, feel free to leave any sort of comments, questions, critisisms, whatever, ont the models and the blog, I'm very new to this, and soon I should be adding a bunch more stuff pretty soon, whenever it arrives in the mail that is.

Can you still not? I had trouble with how to properly link them at first but I think it's ok now, I can see them anyhow, they're just up in the Dakka gallery.

Expansion time! Just because it seems like people don't care that much doesn't mean I'll stop!

So anywho, I got the second battalion and two chariots I ordered a while back and have been going through a big bunch of assemply and priming, so the next step is to show off some of the better bits I've been doing, and hide the worse.

First up for this stage of advancement should probably be the chariots, I've put two of them together, using a tuskgor chariot, an orc boar chariot, and a bestigor and gor, plus green stuff and some odds and ends I had laying around.

This one uses the platform and driver from the tuskgor chariot with a standerd bestigor mounted up behind him.

And this one is based on the orc chariot with the bestigor from the tuskgor chariot, a couple extra tuskgor heads, a gor with some customized arm and a beastmen skull for up on the banner pole.

Next up some of the more interesting gors and bestigors put together this time around.

I really like these bestigors a couple little clips and glues and there are a couple unique weapons amidst the big guys, and the set of curled horns instead of straight ones, could really make the one stand out nicely.

And finally something I still havn't quite worked out how to use yet, but was too cool of a modelling idea to not make since I had the parts, the great blackheart, the spurned one, the horn theif, ungrol the four-horn.

He was not too hard to make actually, two heads from the ungor sprue, clipped at the back to sit a bit more flat, body and arms from the same, the weapons are made from the ends of skaven spears, which make good ragged blades, I then used a bit of spear shaft to make his peg leg and some green stuff to make shoulder pads and a great shaggy mane.

As always there are a bunch more pics in my gallery in you're interested and feel free to make whatever comments you like.

Great looking army! Like the use of the orange red fur to make them a bit different!

Looking forwards to seeing the chariots painted,

My only tint suggestion would be if you havn't started painting slughorn yet, it might be a good idea to bulk up his head a tiny bit, it looks a tiny bit flat at the moment! Still, great idea for a conversion.

Keep it up!
