I just recently made a decent 1250 list and I've been thinking about what else to put into it to bring it up to 1500. I came up with a couple ideas:
List 1
HQ
-Shas'El - AFP, MP, TA, HW MT, HW DC, 2 Shield Drones
Elites
2 Shas'ui - PR, MP, MT (to be joined by HQ)
3 Shas'ui - TL Fusion Blaster, Flamer, Team Leader w/BK
3 Shas'ui - PR, MP, MT, Team Leader w/BK
Troops
3 x 9 FWs w/Pulse Rifles
2 w/Warfish (SMS, TA, MT, Disruption Pod)
Fast Attack
6 Pathfinders
Warfish (see above)
Heavy
2 Broadsides - TL railgun, SMS, Advanced Stabilization System, Team Leader w/BK and HW DC
-2 Shield Drones
Total: 1500
List 2
HQ
-Shas' El - AFP, MP, TA, HW MT
Elites
2 Shas'ui Crisis Suits - PR, MP, MT (to be joined by HQ)
3 Shas'ui Crisis Suits - TL MP, Flamer, Team Leader w/BK
3 Shas'ui Crisis Suits - PR, MP, MT, Team Leader w/BK
Troops:
2 x 12 FWs (Pulse Rifles)
2 Warfish ( SMS, Disruption Pod, MT, TA)
Heavy Support:
3 Broadsides - TL railguns, SMS, Advanced Stabilization System, Team Leader w/ HW Target Lock, HW DC, and BK
-2 Shield Drones
Railhead - railgun, BC, MT, Disruption Pod
Total: 1498
List 1 Strategy: Pathfinders help the broadsides pop tanks and the Crisis team w/ TL Fusion Blasters Deep Strikes to pop a tank or 2, depending on how lucky the unit is. 3 FW squads fly around in Warfish either holding objectives or contesting and the other crisis suits are for infantry and light armor.
List 2 Strategy: It's identical to my 1250 list ( which can be found here), but I added 1 Broadside and the Railhead and gave the Broadside team leader a HW Target Lock. I figured the Railhead could give me more anti-infantry/tank, whichever I need, and the additional Broadside would also help with anti-tank. The Crisis suits are all used for infantry/light armor. Unfortunately, no Pathfinders and only 2 scoring units, but I thought a Railhead would be really beneficial at this point value.
Let me know what you guys think! Also, if you can think of an entirely different list that you think would work better, feel free to post it! I'm completely open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

Even with a DeepStrike Burning Eye (TLFB? on first list) team and two XV88s, I think you're a little light on anti-T. Not by much, just a little.
Otherwise, okay.
List #2 fills it in better, but man, losing the PFs and the 3rd FWs. Far more dicey of a list to play.

If the firewarriors are going to stay inside the devilfish, why keep their numbers so high? You could gain 90pts in list 1 and 120 points in list 2 by dropping their numbers to six, which could purchase cool stuff like piranhas and kroot.

Okay, I think I found a list that balances both of your suggestions so far:
HQ
-Shas'El - AFP, MP, TA, HW MT, HW DC, 1 Shield Drone
Elites
2 XV8 (Shas'ui) - PR, MP, MT (to be joined by HQ)
3 XV8
-2 Shas'ui - TL Fusion Blaster, Flamer
-1 Team Leader - TL MP, Flamer, BK, HW Target Lock
3 XV8 (Shas'ui) - PR, MP, MT, Team Leader w/BK
Troops
3 x 6 FWs w/Pulse Rifles
2 w/Warfish (SMS, TA, MT, Disruption Pod)
Fast Attack
7 Pathfinders
Warfish (see above)
Heavy
3 Broadsides - TL railgun, SMS, Advanced Stabilization System, Team Leader w/BK, HW DC, HW Target Lock, HW Blacksun Filter
-2 Shield Drones
Total: 1500
Alright, I think this might be a bit better. I dropped the FW squads to 6 since I think between them and the Warfish, they'll be able to do their job and mop up partially/mostly eliminated squads of infantry. I added another Broadside for anti-tank and gave it a HW target lock. I also put a HW target lock on the TL Fusion Blaster unit team leader and changed his configuration to Deathrain (TL MP, Flamer) to get some extra range in case another tank isn't close by.
I had another question. Should I take shield drones with the HQ? I was reading a forum on YMDC that was talking about whether he would have to take a morale test or not if the drones died. I wasn't sure what the final verdict on that was, but that may save me 30 points.
Comments/criticism?

It's slightly grey. Odds are, a decent guy/opponent is going to realize that the HQ is an IC, and once alone, will rally without the BK. The opposite argument, as you're prolly aware, is the retinue thing.
So, split the difference. Have one SD to avoid even having the discussion.
I'd be comfortable with this revised list.

mkay, I was thinking of that as a possibility. I took the extra 15 points and added another Pathfinder and a HW Blacksun filter on the Broadside team leader.
Thanks for the approval, Brothererekose!

Is it really that awesome? Or is it so horrendous that I should give up 40k altogether?
P.S. - The list I'm referring to is the 4th post down.

Your list doesn't look bad, but without knowing your local group's tendencies, I can't give a fair opinion of what would work within your group.
Personally, I STRONGLY dislike multi-suit Crisis teams. If you need them to be anti-infantry, I have started liking Stealth teams. If you need them to be anti-tank, I like suicide suits with 2 meltas (particularly my HQ with 5 BS).
I would like more FW and a few more Pathfinders. The Fragmentation Projector can be given to an upgraded regular suit since the BS is less important due to scatter rules.

@TheRedArmy: See, I'm not entirely familiar with my local group's tendencies either because I haven't played anyone outside of my one friend who plays Orks, hahaha. I'm just trying to make a good all-comers list. I thought about using my HQ for anti-tank, but then I figured giving a couple crisis suits a TL Fusion Blaster would give me a good enough chance of hitting I could use my HQ for something else. And I've heard nothing but bad things about stealth teams. So far I've been pleased with crisis suits.
As far as FWs and Pathfinders, I like the stronger weapons of the crisis suits as well as the superior maneuverability of them. I've tried mass FWs and max squads can do a surprising amount of damage, but I'm still sold by the versatility of the XV8s. Also I figured 1 squad at this point level would be sufficient. Do you think another Pathfinder Squad would be better instead of some of my suits?
@rryannn: Yes, I was planning on Deep Striking them. I figured they'd be able to pop anything my broadsides hadn't popped by the time they arrive. Anything you'd recommend to take the squad's place?
