Is it possible to convert a simple tactical squad from the box and turn it into a ten man veteran squad? If so, what would i need to make the appearance of the models different from the ordinary marines yet still be identified as a veteran?

Or just give them more purity seals which come in the box.

I've done this, used the purity seals on shoulderpads, some studded shoulders I had form ther boxes on some, but in reality if you paint the trims on the shoulders, heads, and knee pads a different colour (White usually) and give them purity seals, the scope from the spruce onto a bolt gun and the small extras they can look very much the veterans

If you have a steady hand, you can try painting wreaths on the helmets. I've seen this done in the how to paint books. Looks pretty snazzy and doesn't take any extra bitz

S'all fun and games until some no life troll master debates all over your space manz & ruins it for you

Do you have any tips for painting with white for helmets and shoulder pad trims? whenever i try, my paint is always too thin or too thick and when i go for the washes afterwards i simply mess up the white paints. i give everymodel a black spray undercoat because i dont have white spray. Is this affecting it you think?

Somewhere in south-central England.

Black primer makes everything on top darker. Conversely, white primer makes everything brighter and can still shine through yellows.

Try priming with grey for a Third Way.

Also, look at Roman shield decals for a source of wreaths and lightning bolts that could be used for veteran squad signs.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

What you really need are Terminator Honor shoulder pads, which veterans tend to wear. 5 of them come in the Command squad box, or can be Bitz ordered.

All you really need to do is paint veteran markings on them. Codex chapters use white helmets to mark veterans - other chapters use other markings.
