I love mechwarrior/battletech probably more than any other game and I was really excited for this, had the founders going and everything. I just couldn't get in to it. It just feels too much like being dropped in COD style solaris arena battles than expansive engagements. If they had went in the direction Chromehounds or Battlefield for example I'd have hit the ground running and probably ignored all other games to date. =/ just my opinion though.

i am currently playing the gak out of this game, its so good ive even pumped moneez into it.
I have
3 Kodiaks (wasted moneez, not because they are bad, but because I am NOT a Assault mech pilot, I suck at them lol)
3 Timberwolves (my favs, these are soooooo awesome, you cant really beat them on value, as omnimechs can switch out hardpoints and you can play these however you like)
3 Shadow cats (the BEST sniper mechs in the game, bar none, ECM on all of them, very fast, high hard points etc. and of course the best JJ on a mech)
3 Artic cheetahs (TRoll lol lol lol)
3 ravens (ok the Huigen is awful, or I suck in it)
3 Warhammers (still getting used to these, but so far I like them, bit flat chested and easy to stomp because of this, but I likes, they are PPC gods)

If you enjoyed Chromehounds, you should check out M.A.V.- There's a link in my signature.
It's the result of a guy basically going "Yeah, none of the modern mech games are slow-paced tactical enough for me, I miss Chromehounds" and making his own game.
It's still in Alpha (though he says 'beta', it's not really quite there yet) and growing its community, so the full-scale long-term tactical wars aren't happening yet, but it's cheap and fun, and Cyberdog (the dev) is great at community interaction, feedback, and has a good sense of humour for things.
When MWO put out their SOLID GOLD MECHS for $500, he gave us early Alpha testers a shiny gold camo. You won't be able to get it, sadly, as it was an exclusive, but there's all sorts of camos and part contests going on for neat cosmetic things or early access to new parts.

It happens when you take something as in-depth as Battletech and throw it into a F2P model - you can't have a Chromehounds style of game with substance and depth without putting a modern game price tag on it.
I don't disagree of course, I would kill for something a bit closer to the Mechwarrior games of old - and according to Mechcon 2016, we'll be getting one in 2018 - so there's hope!

I'm definitely going to have to look in to this once I build my new pc. I've had a void that I haven't been able to fill since the chromehound servers went down. The game definitely had it's fault but the community I played with and the game itself just kept me enjoying it regardless. Probably my favorite "mech" game experience next to MW2.

I've been keeping my eye on MW5 a lot actually. I've been eating up every little tidbit I can find ever since I learned about it!
