Ol' Blighty

Well, as many of you know, I am going to be making a heresy-era raven guard army, using the BA codex. The question is- what type of BA army should I go for?

JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles.
corpsesarefun: Thank god I missed be nice to shrike day.
greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid.

Well, according to Lexicanum, the Raven Guard are a much more controlled rapid-strike force, unlike the Blood Angels wild and heroic assaults.

Drop Pod tactical squads, and DS Assault squads seems like a good fluffy mix. Whether it's competitive or not is up for debate of course.

Yeah! Who needs balanced rules when everyone can take giant stompy robots! Balanced rules are just for TFG WAAC players, and everyone hates them.

meh. I don't play tourney or WAAC, just for fun. For me, this is a nice, fluffy change.
I'll start buying the models at christmas (getting the codex next week). For my first unit I'm thinking of kitbashing the FW RG upgrade kit with the sanguard-maybe since all I need are the legs and arms I can get it on a bits site?

Are you gonna use the sanguinary guard wings? I definitely plan to. I love the idea of RG guys swooping in on black wings

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

i would get the FW beaky armor, combine with FW raven guard bits, and get some Jump packs as needed.

would be very nice and astetically pleasing. could be competitive too.

i would run mostly Jump pack infantry backed up by some VV. you could have some Tactical or Sternguard in pods as support. i would also use Stormravens.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

I posted that. Great minds think alike, eh?

will do. If GW release the stormraven as-is, I will also need to buy a load of plasticard, if you see what I mean...

hmm. Never thought of that. What does the rest of dakka think? use regular SM jump packs or the sanguard ones?
