Okay so I played against my friends Tyranids the other day and I had some difficulty understanding his hive tyrants paroxysm psychic power. My one main question was the hive tyrant just casts the spell and whatever unit he nominates is WS 1 and BS 1 until the next Tyranid turn...I don't even get to make a LD to see if I ignore it!?!?

Yeah, that's pretty much what it does. It's be pretty pointless if it could be countered by a Leadership test, given the amount of LD9 units running around.

That is correct, if he passes the psychic test your as and bs 1 until his next turn. However its only a 12in range.

Also, it's a PSA, so he can't use it into close combat.

Its a shooting attack with range 12" and needs LOS to work. If he can see you, you're in range and manages to pass the psychic test then that unit is at WS1 BS1. You need some psychic deffence ... or some thing to block LOS ^_^

Ya, laying waste to a unit of termies with 10 hormagaunts because the terminators had WS1 made me laugh... However, as stated above, it is only 12" range, and requires LoS, as it is a shooting attack.

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

So since it's a shooting attack, what do you mean by that? Does that mean he can't assault then?

It means he cannot use the power if he runs, he cannot use it while in combat, or use it to target a unit already in combat, and so on.
essentially anythikng that restricts you from usiing a normal "gun" would prevent you from using this power.

Besides, how would your leadership effect your body being consumed by pain entirely? Causing you to "fight through the pain?"

Basically you treat the pyschic power as an assault weapon.
