Cheers, I'm around.

If you check the store finder you'll see there are not any stores in DC proper (Hardly any in beltway even) but plenty around the city

I'm in Northern VA.

Same here, I'm in Northern VA too. There's a bunch of stores that have tables. There are 2 GW stores I know of about 20 mins from the city.

Let us know when you're in town, always on the look out for new blood.

Just north of the city is Dream Wizards, a great independent game shop... especially if you're not looking for GW games.

Funny, I am moving back to the DC area after 10 years away in August and was trying to find info on the exact same thing. I would love to arrange some meetups for 40k or fantasy (although I need to brush up on the new rules) once I get back down there.

AfrikProphet, I wouldn't mind coaching you through a game of fantasy if you're not up on the new rules. Just let me know when your arrival date is a bit closer!

I'm just northwest of DC, however, so I have very little crossover with the NoVa crowd (getting all the way around the beltway on a weeknight = not feasible).

Sweet. We are going to be in Hyattsville/New Carrollton. I didn't play much Fantasy during the last edition and have been out of the loop since the most recent one dropped. I may pick of Island of Blood in a few months. (my wife always enjoyed fantasy mroe than 40k and has a pretty awesome Woodelf army and I have been feeling both the Skaven and High Elves in recent years)

I've played wood elves quite a bit, so I can help there . Skaven and HE are both great right now, although the woodies... not so much . Still fun, though!

Hello, and welcome back to the area. There are three Games Workshops around. I play at the Fair Oaks one, lots of stuff going on there and really awesome staff!

Any easy way to get from inside DC (we'll say Tenleytown/Friendship Heights ) out to any gaming clubs?

I thought I'd post to say I also recently moved to Arlington, VA, and would be keen for games. Around the Bailey's Crossroads end. Don't have a car though so transportation is limited! Either weeknights or perhaps at the weekend.

Emp.: From the locations listed it sounds like the Metro would be a possibility--although from experience, the orange and red lines are very full, and prone to delays, during weekday evenings.

There aren't any clubs or stores close enough off the metro stops though, and outside of the district i don't know the bus system well enough.

Yes, the buses can be tricky: post-rush-hour they often go down to hourly, which isn't ideal. This is one of the difficulties I am having at the moment when it comes to contemplating club attendance.

Some of the Fairfax County buses go from West Falls Church Metro station, but I don't know whether they go out to Chantilly, Fair Oaks etc: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector/

Our gaming group is slowly growing at Victory comics. There planning on starting an escalation tournament once enough people sign up. They meet on Saturdays and have a nice well lit back room with tables and terrain. The spaces are clean and usually free on Sat and Sun. Stop by and get on the mailing list. I'll try and come by with a box of eldar, chaos, or orks.

FYI...
I think a bus stops right in front of the place.

We have a group that typically plays (almost) every weekend in Sterling at my house. Two 8x5 tables with plenty of terrain and a great group that loves to see new armies. Everyone's welcome as long as you don't have a problem with a hyper husky running around and the occasional beer bottle being mistaken for a drop pod.

I also try to reserve the first saturday of every month to play at the GW in Sterling as the manager runs a great Apoc game there (first come first serve)

Our group plays in Falls Church, Springfield GW, and occasional Fridays in Germantown, MD for Whiskey & 40k nights.

We also run the NOVA Open (DC's GT at present). Always up for more gamers; periodic cigars on the deck, all mid-late 20's on up through mid-late 40's, bourbon/beer drinkers mostly, stronger lists, very laid back attitudes.

I am extremely interested in joining you guys. I know I joined your forums a while back, but I switched computers and need to find my login again... Do you use your forums to set up the games, or would it be possible for you to PM a time/place of your next meeting (preferably in MD) and I can just show up and introduce myself?

I work in Rockville and live in Hyattsville in PG County. Fresh transplant from Iowa in September. I have to admit that I was hoping for a more mom-and-pop type comic shop that supported GW products (and various games in general), much like my home store in Ames/Des Moines, as I have a small to fair number of models that are either non-GW or 100% scratch-built with a low percentage of GW parts. I've heard that sort of thing is frowned upon in official GW stores - I've never been inside one.

I would say that clearly there's a market niche that needs to be filled, but with rent prices being what they are around here I'm not sure anyone has the disposable income to support a store .

What nights do you play in GW, and where/when in Germantown?
