Me and some close buddies in our (very) small firm have begun to make moulds for 1970s to modern models in a 1/72 (20mm) scale. Based in burnham-on-Crouch, the Side Project (as we are known) have come up with 4 kit ideas, which should be reaching close folks in mid 2011. These kits are:

Armies of the western world: 15 US infantrymen, 15 British guardsmen and 15 German Bundeswehr
Armies from Beyond the Wall: 15 Russian Spetsnaz, 15 Chinese PLA troopers and 15 Serbian Grenadiers
Private Military Contractors: 15 Private Security Guards, 15 Battlefield Engineers and 15 Private Personnel
Global Terrorists and Rebels: 15 Taliban Militants, 15 Chechnyan Separatists and 15 Burmese Soldiers

Please reply with any ideas, and maybe also some corrections (at the time i am not sure about some of the actual unit names of our modern forces.)

Many and varied forces in progress according to waxing & waning whims.

I may never finish an army in my life.

You may want to join my forum too...

www.guildwargamers.com

Its the largest 20mm/1/72nd wargames forum on the web and concentrates on WW2 and Moderns. We have over 1000 members and a core of 200-300 active posters.

We also have all the leading 20mm makers on the forum too. Many use it to source ideas and show off new products.

I also work for Ambush Alley Games so if you want help with OOBs to theme pack composition I can offer that, but it would have to be via PM as alot of the info is due to go in the Osprey books due for release next year.

If you want some tips as to what is likely to be 'hot' for 20mm next year, then drop me a line and I can fill you in on the four osprey supplements we have due for release.

I personally would suggest you concentrate on one theme and do full and complete ranges for it.

People like to be able to source everything in one style. The new Elhiem 2009 USMC range is a good example of this.

Also make sure your weapon masters are spot on, modern gamers are quite picky when it comes to weapons.

If you can get a quality close to these, you will do well...
