I'm afraid to try this so I'm curious if anyone has tried this. I've primed, basecoated, painted details with GW paints and then dipped my models in Minwax Polyshade Antique Chestnut. I was wondering if it's safe to paint with GW paints on top of it after it has dried? Has anyone done this before?

You may have adherence and flow issues and depending on how thick your dip was detail obscurement.

Done it once or twice when I found a spot I messed up. Painted over it, then painted Minwax back over that spot. Never had a problem doing it, can't tell that I have.

short answer yes you can paint over stain.

just be sure to at least hit the repainted areas with a varnish (be it dull or glossie) to help keep the paint from chipping.

the armypainter quickshade is snazzed up wood stain... but it is snazzed up enough that i highly recommend picking up a can of at least the strong tone, and if you can then the dark tone as well.

I had dipped some spearmen for my menoth army and dident like how the robes turned out. i have repainted them with a bone color and they are currently waiting to have another batch of quickshade painted over the robes.

any ways. hope that helped

Awesome! Thanks guys! I dipped my nids and planning to do my marines. And I want to do the scale effects after the dip and the eyes of my SM's after the dip too.
