On the perfumed wind

Hey all,

Just something I noticed elsewhere- Vaul (who occasionally links his YouTube batreps here) has posted his 6 games from the NZ masters. Here's a link to the first:

And you should be able to find the rest in the sidebar. They're a decent listen and the pictures are quite good. He occasionally gets a bit of a moan on about luck and comp, but I think that may be somewhat a side effect of the style of report.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

Glad you posted this up RZ, saves me the trouble I watched these reports with great interest as they went up. Vaul's reports remain pretty excellent - though OnceBitten's won me over recently, despite being all Brets all the time - and I am still intrigued by 2k events. Vaul is a bit of a whiner when it comes to comp, luck and the universe ... but so am I

I will say that his list doesn't strike me as loaded with concessions, it simply has no level 4, 'only' 2 war machines, and no stank. I've faced the walter once with chaos (Gateway 11'd it) but I know it would cause endless nightmares for my skaven, and it's easily the most taken character build (hellstrom, VHS, pope mobile) I know of for empire.

All the same, definitely good views. Props to the guy running the carnosaur lizards, takes a little more testicular fortitude to bring a t-rex into battle then let the slann autopilot kick in.

That was pretty interesting to watch. That comet was brutal first turn and really changed the game for both players.

I noticed though that he was talking about the Skinks having a second rank in the melee... I thought skirmishers didn't benefit from rank bonuses in melee, but just got supporting attacks?

You may not know it but Lizards have access to ranked skinks as well - they often have krox amongst them but can also be bought in little blocks of 10. But because they don't have blowpipes and a 24" (more?) effective shooting range they are clearly a concession

That's a bummer. No wonder you almost always see skirmishers. I wasn't aware they could do that since everyone always runs them as skirmishers :-P
