Here are some conversions I did on the Tyrannic War Vets. Since I did not want to harm the Metal parts of the model, conversion has largely been limited to the plastic components

I think I did too much of a close up ^^; Anyways, I'm not particularly happy with the second Nid-head backpack, but that was after going through three sets of heads, so I'm not changing that up anymore. The first Nid-head backpack was the first one I ever did, and turned out quite nicely. Obviously I got the idea from the old GW article on converting Tyranid battle damage.Two of them share the same metal body, so it looked like one of them had a weapon swap or something. The Warrior-head banner is based off of the standard on the FW Ultramarine Dreadnought. The second one just has a trophy sitting on his backpack. However to compensate he's torn the arm from an unfortunate speciment in his rage.

Ok, I have a few comments. Overall I like them and what your trying to do.

1. Yes the backpack heads don't seem to work.
2. Do something with the heads, cut the heads down and use them as shoulder pads/knee pads. They look too fresh, why after all these years do they still have flesh on them? Example (the large nid head and its tongue, do they keep the heads in the fridge between battles?
3. Armor plates and claws are your friend. I have always liked the look of the guy using a claw/bladed arm part of a hormiguant as a knife.
4. Is something wrong with the marine thats primed black? he looks very grainy?
5. If you look around i'm sure that there is a plastic nid skull somewhere. I think it was in the SM Dev box, but I'm not sure.

I like the conversions of the backpacks. Im not so sure about the 3rd photo, something about the tongue hanging into the marines face doesnt look right

If the heads were smaller it would work a bit better. As it is they just simpy look out of place and just a random collection of heads.

Unfortunately I dont have any spare Scything talons left, nor any free ripper heads =( I'll cut down the tongue on the Warrior head though. As for the freshness of the heads, I tried carving some of the stuff so it looked decayed, but it didnt turn out. I think I have two Stealer Skulls, but that's about it

I like the head on the trophy rack, but the backpack looks a bit off. Maybe put one head on the belt, or tied to the backpack.

I wanted to put a spike through the head, but that looked too much like CHaos Marines. I was thinking of shaving down a ripper head and attaching it to the barrel of the gun.

Build a storm shield out of some 'nid armour. I kinda like the heads on the backpack, looks like a fancy jump pack. Cant wait to see the finished models.

I do have a Storm Shield made out of a Warrior's head and a shaven down Storm Shield arm. However I dont know who to give it to, as I dont want a Captain commanding the force, but seems kinda pointless to put it on a Sternguard Sarge (not to mention I dont know if he can take a storm shield at all)

what about using rivets on nid heads? instead of spikes?

also have you had a look at my nidkillas? i used the posessed bodys to make them look more nidlike...and stuck nidplates to their armor..
