How the character is currently....

Michael Ange de la mort, Blood Champion of Sanguinius - 175pts

Michael Ange de la mort was born on the Blood Angel's recruiting Planet of Baal Secundus during the opening days of the Great Crusade, where his skill as a survivor and a skilled warrior where quickly put to the test. At age 10, he slew thirty mutants when they invaded his tribes village using only his wits and bare hands. The Primarch Sanguinius saw his promise, when leading the war against the mutants Michael personally slew the greatest of the mutant warriors always leading from the front and beside the Great Primarch. Upon the arrival of The Emperor and Sanguinius swearing fealty, The Primarch took Michael as one of his warriors to be inducted into the Blood Angels Legion. Set out on the Great Crusade Michael once again proved himself with courage and strength when on the subjection of the technocracy of Unthum IV, he challenged the warped man-machine warlord to a duel, in which after using is only his bolt pistol and combat knife, he buried the knife into a vital joint of the monsters leg leaving it kneeing just with in reach for Michael to shove hi bolt pistol into the things eye socket and unload his full clip bursting its head in a great crimson metallic rain.

Threw the years of the Great Crusade Michael made his way threw the ranks, time and time again proving his skill at war. Not all such victories are to be celebrated however.On the planet Tranek IV, Michael , a Veteran Sargent, lead his assault squad into battle the Ork Warboss GrotRocker and his retinue of mega-armored nobs intercepted him and his squad, ill equipped to deal with such a powerful enemy and with his more heavily armored brothers occupied Michael an his squad fought with intensity that left the surrounding orks in awe and fear. But the Warboss and his retinue where to well equipped and one by one the squad fell till only Michael, the Warboss and two of his nobs stood. Michael fought with ferocity that later some described as only those possessed with a rage and/or thirst would, whatever it was he quickly slew the two nobs cleaving one from head to sternum in one swing as he gave mad cry and cleaved the other in half. The warboss was quick and gave a mighty punch to the chest of Michael smashing his armor chest plate and sending him flying across the battlefield. Trying to recover the Warboss was on him already, picking Michael up with his power claw and punching Michael once again sending him falling to the ground.

Spiting up blood, face broken Michael was on his feet quickly just in time to be grabbed by the neck, the Warboss gripping him for the kill. With blood crazed eyes and fury unbound once again remembering his comrades he punched his fist repeatedly into the orks face smashing it to a pulp, the warboss grip lossening with each strike and then Michael took both his hands grasped them around the dieing orks throat and crushed the life from him. The Ork advance was soon broke and the day won, but the taste of death was forever stained in Michael's mouth. He later went on to become a member of the famed Honor Guard and earning the Title of Blood Champion of Sanguinius, when out of one-hundred battle brothers, coming down to him and the first company Captain, Raldoron, bested him. Surprising even the Primarch with his feat, the victory earning him the right to wear the Blood Mail and wield the Wing of Sanguinius. But darker days where just on the horizon.

In the opening of the Horus Hersey, during the Siege of Terra is where Michael found his greatest enemy yet and where he still regrets the actions when his Primarch ordered him to stay on the surface and fight while he and his Sanguinary Guard made for Horus's Battle Barge. Michael and the Honor Guard held fast Michael slaying all the traitors and Daemons that dare tryed to pass threw him and his brothers, but then the traitors greatest champion made his way to the fray, Kharn Captain of the 8th World Eaters Assault Company, now a mad berserker laying all low that stood in his path. Michael raised his axe out toward the captain challenging the Traitor shouting for him to meet him. They both met eyes for the briefest of seconds as Kharn and retinue charged Michael and the Honor Guard. When they clashed it was some of the most savage and brutal fighting to have taken place during the battle, Kharn cleaved two honor guard with one swipe of Gorechild, while Michael shot his plasma pistol into the chest of a berserker sending him down lifeless to the ground and cleaved the head clean off the other with the Wing of Sanguinius. One by one the Honor Guard fell till only Michael stood against Kharn and three berserkers.

Giving out a cry of rage Kharn and the three threw themselves at Michael who quickly buried his axe in the chest of one berserkers while firing his plasma pistol into the others face, with milliseconds to spare he kicked the lifeless form off his axe into Kharn sending him tumbling back, dropping low avoiding the other berserker who swung wide Michael came up with a mighty battle cry cleaving the berserker in two. Kharn quickly recovered and was on Michael already shooting his plasma pistol wildly and swinging like a mad man, the two battled for hours it seemed the other unable to land a telling blow, with each strike it grew harder and harder for Michael to parry. His shots spent kharn discarded his pistol gripping his axe with both hands he gave out a cry, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!! Michael gripped both hands on his axe as he attempted to block the mighty blow, to no avail as the strike bit deep into his chest and crimson washed over his armor undistinguishable from the blood red of the armor. Michael fell to one knee never taking his eyes from the enemy as Kharn raised for the final death blow.....then it happened.

The great cry of the Primarch as he was murdered by his once brother Horus shocked all the blood angels on the field, Michael could see it happen as if he was there the rage inside him boiling to unmeasurable heights seeing what had transpired. Kharn was for a second caught off guard and as he spied Michael rise from his feet as if he was never wounded his eyes filled with fury Kharn had never witnessed before, Kharn swang, but it was too late. Michael simply spun and buried his axe deep into the heart of Kharn, his form freezing for a few second before falling on a giant pile of dead. Michael cried out in blood fury to the heavens as the traitors heard the death echo of the traitor Horus, turn and ran before the onslaught of the blood angels fury. The world eaters where able to drag the lifeless body of Kharn to there transports in which Michael had formed a pursuit unit even threw there rage and taken one of there transports by force in pursuit of the traitor force.

To this day noone know why Michael followed the force alone for he hounded them even into the eye of terror, only that he became lost there or perhaps still hunting the traitors who had so harmed his beloved Primarch and Emperor. Millennium past and he and his company had not been seen since that time, tho rumors spread of blood angels few in number coming to the aid of backwater planets wielding technology from the Crusade era, it was of course dismissed. Not until after the Commander Dante took up command of the Blood Angels did Michael hail back to his home planet of Baal Secundus,being the final survivor of the original company to finally dock all where shocked and amazed by the survival of a warrior as old as or even older then Bjorn and not entombed, He was quickly and sternly checked for taint as he had been into the eye of terror for a rather long time now. To the Ordo Hereticus amazement he was un mutated and still firmly loyal to Primarch, Legion and The Emperor, tho he had many things to learn since changes in the Imperium of Man over the years. When asked how he had survived for so long with out falling he simply said, "An angel wielding a thunderbolt protected us on are journeys threw the malestorm".

Dante even gifted him with the Primarch's once Pride of Baal which was left to him after the Primarch's death but never claimed. Michael did not take the mantle of chapter master tho there was talk, Michael simply accepted the post he had carried always as Blood Champion of Sanguinius he was always a better warrior. He continues still to best the best the enemy has to offer and to slay foes and serving still in the Honor Guard and training young scouts and holding council with Captains, Sargents and even Dante himself. Where ever his Chapter needs him, he will be there.

Michael must always direct his attacks at a enemy IC if one is in the combat he is in, eager to slay the enemy champion showing who is the true warrior. If Michael is the last Honor Guard in the squad remaining he gains the Furious Charge, Feel No Pain and Fearless USR, fury burning ever brighter to avenge his fallen brothers.

Wargear: Plasma Pistol, Frag and Krak grenades, Blood Mail, Wing of Sanguinius and Pride of Baal

Pride of Baal: A giant Bloodfang lion's pelt sayed to have been slain and worn by the Primarch himself during the glorious days of the Great Crusade. Only the most decorated of Blood Angels may bear it for to look upon it is to know the one who bears it is truly death incarnate. Gifted to Michael by Sanguinius when he won his place as Blood Champion. Counts as a Death Mask that if the enemy model(s) fails there leadership test, they must use the WS 1 imposed by the mask regardless of Wargear, Special rules, etc.

Blood Mail: And Ancient suit of Artificer Armour only ever worn by the greatest blood champions of the Legion, it is and old model of Artificer Armor and there for does not offer the same amount of protection, however some say it still is blessed with the blood of Sanguinius . It grants a +3 armor save and a +4 invul save.

Wing of Sanguinius: Crafted by the Primarch Sanguinius himself and with the aid of the Adeptus Mechanicus, this axe has been cutting down the enemies of man since the Great Crusade always in the hands of the Primarch's chosen Champion. It is made from the very blade Sanguinius once wielded into battle. It is a power weapon that always hits on a +3

Nice to see some thought going into the item history, rather than just saying 'oh yea, this weapon is uber killy so it does this'
If you worked hard on the fluff, i don't think many players would say no in a casual game, especially if the model looks interesting.

My first concern is the unkillable rule. It doesn't scream unkillable to me... more... mightily miffed off, i'd have a rethink on the naming of that, but the rule itself isn't OP as he could end up dying before the rest of the unit (mind war, vindicare, random allocations with bad rolling, etc) However if he is that last, FNP and FC seem fitting, i dont think the inv save works too well with the rule however, i'd take that off completely. I'd also throw fearless into the mix as soon as he becomes the last model. It would be embarrising to loose the unit, get all exited as the hunt for vengance is about to begin, then your champion falls back and gets walked off the board.

For the armour, rather than just a 2+ save, maybe have his invun incorperated into his fancy mail. Possibly an 'always on' 5+, maybe 4+, depending on how expensive you want the guy to be.

For the axe, i'd put his S5 boost into the axe, the model is S4, but the axe grants +1S (as well as the 3+ to hit)

For the stats... dont have the BA dex to hand, and havnt used/played honour guard yet... so if i'm completely off just say

I don't think many people would let you play a 2+/3++ charecter.

The 3++ when he was the last one alive was ok
A 5++ all the time would be more reasonable.

I added a bit more to his stats as I figured he is suppose to be the Chapter Champion should be a bit tougher, he is still an upgrade to honor guard tho and I still need some input on what his point cost should be. Also would you play against him in a friendly game?

No, I appreciate your desire to have a special character to represent with you favorite mini, but I have some issues with it.
First. He has the stats of a captain, with artificer armour, a power weapon, a plasma pistol, and a pretty ridiculous special rule, but is not an IC and therefore cannot be singled out in CC.
Second, you have given him very little to no fluff to justify him.
Third, you still haven't decided on a cost, which will ultimately determine his quality. At 110 points, he is absolutely OP. For 200... maybe.

It needs a lot more work before I would feel OK with you getting an extra captain with a special rule.

The Chaplains and Sanguinary Priest saw his promise, when at the challenge at Angels Fall he arrived a whole two days ahead of other aspirants and was the first to win a spot amongst the fifty aspirants to be taken to the fortress monastery to begin there trials to becoming Blood Angels. After severing with great bravery and courage as a scout he once again proved his rising promise as a champion when he issued a challenge to the World Eater berserk, Roknar the Mad, in which Michael easily decapitated the traitor and cast his body and head into the charging traitor line, giving them pause as the blood angel scout gave counter charge breaking the world eaters into a mad rout.

But not all Michael's victories have been greeted with celebration. Ok I figured 160-170 pts maybe little bit more? I dropped the invl to +4 and gave him death mask

I understand why he doesn't have IC, but I dispute having IC would be an advantage to this character. Sometimes, I would agree that IC helps more then it hurts, but considering this characters special abilities and prowess, I think it just makes him horribly difficult to kill before he has laid waste to an entire squad in CC and ends up a 2+/3++, FNP, Furious Charge, Fearless monster who hits anything on 3+.

Again, it all comes down to pricing.

My opinion is that it would have to cost at least in the 150 range (as you have it now) as an upgrade to be reasonably balanced.

Yeah I was thinking maybe 160-170pts, I just tweaked him bit more I gave him death mask and dropped his invul to +4. Im not trying to tool him up or nothing just looking at the model and thinking of the origins of the items he has lol.

One last bump,Is that a decent point value 160pts or bit higher around 170-175? Also would you play against him in a friendly game or friendly campaign?

Your character adds up to be 150 points with just his basic wargear. (hodge-podged from C:BA and C:SM since BA characters don't get artificer armour or death masks.)
That's captain stats+artificer armour+plamsa pistol+power weapon+Death mask.
The blood fury is a special case only rule so I wouldn't cost it too aggressively but always hitting on 3+ with 4-6 attacks (depending on chapter banner) with a power weapon is probably worth more than a couple points.

I can see what your saying would 170 be a good points cost then? His stats aren't exact captains (-1-WS,-1-W, -1-Ld) in exchange for (+1-S, +1-A), he is pretty powerful but for him to even get to his max potential you have to lose the rest of your squad, thus leaving him open to getting shot at till he dies with 2 wounds, also even while he is in the squad with no invul, a glass hammer I thinkk the term im looking for. Maybe I could add rage to his special rule would that decrease the cost or make it go up? Also maybe to lower the cost make it to where he cannot join another squad?

basically a captain with a load of USR's, 2 wounds and some equipment. 170's a bit steep- try him as an upgrade from a regular champion at about 80 points. as far as I can tell (no BA codex) he is a 2 wound captain, not an IC, that has his iron halo if he's the only one left, with a better PW and S5? 80+however much points a champion is, and I'll let you play it.

A Blood Champion with plasma pistol is 58pts adding to 80pts suggested from shrike would be 138pts, which 150 probably be good for him just to make it even and also to add the death mask cost into it. thanks to all, any other feedback be great.

the stat increase (S & A) is made up by the stat decrease (WS, W & Ld), so 100pts there. Plus plasma pistol (15) artificier armour (15), death mask (dunno, but say 15?) and power weapon (15), so it's 160. minus the standard unit cost (58)= 102 (say 100). Maybe give him yarrick's iron will rule? When he loses his last wound, put him on his side. next controlling player's turn, on a 3+, he pops up again wih 1 wound left. Try that and make him a 100 point upgrade. (when SC's are concerned, GW normally shaves off a few points for taking such an expensive unit.)
so I think 100 points +yarrick's rule.

i re did the whole character redoing the story(very long) how I really wanted it to be, I have pitched this story before but I don't think too many fluff bunnies(I myself am one to an extent) liked it, he is a IC now but must be purchased as and upgrade on the Honor Guard replacing the blood champion, lowered his armor and put the invul on it up the cost in points cause I gave him a wound and another WS since he is a veteran of the Great Crusade days. Pride of Baal is just a better version of a death mask, possibly up the overall cost to make up for this?

But the Warboss and his retinue where to well equipped and one by one the squad fell till only Michael, the Warboss and two of his nobs stood. Michael fought with ferocity that later some described as only those possessed with a rage and/or thirst would, whatever it was he quickly slew the two nobs cleaving one from head to sternum in one swing as he gave mad cry and cleaved the other in half. The warboss was quick and gave a mighty punch to the chest of Michael smashing his armor chest plate and sending him flying across the battlefield. Trying to recover the Warboss was on him already, picking Michael up with his power claw and punching Michael once again sending him falling to the ground.

Spiting up blood, face broken Michael was on his feet quickly just in time to be grabbed by the neck, the Warboss gripping him for the kill. With blood crazed eyes and fury unbound once again remembering his comrades he punched his fist repeatedly into the orks face smashing it to a pulp, the warboss grip lossening with each strike and then Michael took both his hands grasped them around the dieing orks throat and crushed the life from him. The Ork advance was soon broke and the day won, but the taste of death was forever stained in Michael's mouth. He later went on to become a member of the famed Honor Guard and earning the Title of Blood Champion of Sanguinius, when out of one-hundred battle brothers, coming down to him and the first company Captain, Raldoron, bested him. Surprising even the Primarch with his feat, the victory earning him the right to wear the Blood Mail and wield the Wing of Sanguinius. But darker days where just on the horizon.

In the opening of the Horus Hersey, during the Siege of Terra is where Michael found his greatest enemy yet and where he still regrets the actions when his Primarch ordered him to stay on the surface and fight while he and his Sanguinary Guard made for Horus's Battle Barge. Michael and the Honor Guard held fast Michael slaying all the traitors and Daemons that dare tryed to pass threw him and his brothers, but then the traitors greatest champion made his way to the fray, Kharn Captain of the 8th World Eaters Assault Company, now a mad berserker laying all low that stood in his path. Michael raised his axe out toward the captain challenging the Traitor shouting for him to meet him. They both met eyes for the briefest of seconds as Kharn and retinue charged Michael and the Honor Guard. When they clashed it was some of the most savage and brutal fighting to have taken place during the battle, Kharn cleaved two honor guard with one swipe of Gorechild, while Michael shot his plasma pistol into the chest of a berserker sending him down lifeless to the ground and cleaved the head clean off the other with the Wing of Sanguinius. One by one the Honor Guard fell till only Michael stood against Kharn and three berserkers.

Giving out a cry of rage Kharn and the three threw themselves at Michael who quickly buried his axe in the chest of one berserkers while firing his plasma pistol into the others face, with milliseconds to spare he kicked the lifeless form off his axe into Kharn sending him tumbling back, dropping low avoiding the other berserker who swung wide Michael came up with a mighty battle cry cleaving the berserker in two. Kharn quickly recovered and was on Michael already shooting his plasma pistol wildly and swinging like a mad man, the two battled for hours it seemed the other unable to land a telling blow, with each strike it grew harder and harder for Michael to parry. His shots spent kharn discarded his pistol gripping his axe with both hands he gave out a cry, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!! Michael gripped both hands on his axe as he attempted to block the mighty blow, to no avail as the strike bit deep into his chest and crimson washed over his armor undistinguishable from the blood red of the armor. Michael fell to one knee never taking his eyes from the enemy as Kharn raised for the final death blow.....then it happened.

The great cry of the Primarch as he was murdered by his once brother Horus shocked all the blood angels on the field, Michael could see it happen as if he was there the rage inside him boiling to unmeasurable heights seeing what had transpired. Kharn was for a second caught off guard and as he spied Michael rise from his feet as if he was never wounded his eyes filled with fury Kharn had never witnessed before, Kharn swang, but it was too late. Michael simply spun and buried his axe deep into the heart of Kharn, his form freezing for a few second before falling on a giant pile of dead. Michael cried out in blood fury to the heavens as the traitors heard the death echo of the traitor Horus, turn and ran before the onslaught of the blood angels fury. The world eaters where able to drag the lifeless body of Kharn to there transports in which Michael had formed a pursuit unit even threw there rage and taken one of there transports by force in pursuit of the traitor force.

To this day noone know why Michael followed the force alone for he hounded them even into the eye of terror, only that he became lost there or perhaps still hunting the traitors who had so harmed his beloved Primarch and Emperor. Millennium past and he and his company had not been seen since that time, tho rumors spread of blood angels few in number coming to the aid of backwater planets wielding technology from the Crusade era, it was of course dismissed. Not until after the Commander Dante took up command of the Blood Angels did Michael hail back to his home planet of Baal Secundus,being the final survivor of the original company to finally dock all where shocked and amazed by the survival of a warrior as old as or even older then Bjorn and not entombed, He was quickly and sternly checked for taint as he had been into the eye of terror for a rather long time now. To the Ordo Hereticus amazement he was un mutated and still firmly loyal to Primarch, Legion and The Emperor, tho he had many things to learn since changes in the Imperium of Man over the years. When asked how he had survived for so long with out falling he simply said, "An angel wielding a thunderbolt protected us on are journeys threw the malestorm".

Dante even gifted him with the Primarch's once Pride of Baal which was left to him after the Primarch's death but never claimed. Michael did not take the mantle of chapter master tho there was talk, Michael simply accepted the post he had carried always as Blood Champion of Sanguinius he was always a better warrior. He continues still to best the best the enemy has to offer and to slay foes and serving still in the Honor Guard and training young scouts and holding council with Captains, Sargents and even Dante himself. Where ever his Chapter needs him, he will be there.

Blood Fury and Honor Bound: Michael has always felt honor bound to avenge all his fallen brothers and to seek out the strongest of the enemy and slay him sending his weakling bands routing. Michael must be purchased as a Honor Guard upgrade replacing the Blood Champion. Michael must always direct his attacks at a enemy IC if one is in the combat he is in, eager to slay the enemy champion showing who is the true warrior. If Michael is the last Honor Guard in the squad remaining he gains the Furious Charge, Feel No Pain and Fearless USR, fury burning ever brighter to avenge his fallen brothers.

Wargear: Plasma Pistol, Frag and Krak grenades, Blood Mail, Wing of Sanguinius and Pride of Baal

Pride of Baal: A giant Bloodfang lion's pelt sayed to have been slain and worn by the Primarch himself during the glorious days of the Great Crusade. Only the most decorated of Blood Angels may bear it for to look upon it is to know the one who bears it is truly death incarnate. Gifted to Michael by Sanguinius when he won his place as Blood Champion. Counts as a Death Mask that if the enemy model(s) fails there leadership test, they must use the WS 1 imposed by the mask regardless of Wargear, Special rules, etc.

Blood Mail: And Ancient suit of Artificer Armour only ever worn by the greatest blood champions of the Legion, it is and old model of Artificer Armor and there for does not offer the same amount of protection, however some say it still is blessed with the blood of Sanguinius . It grants a +3 armor save and a +4 invul save.

Wing of Sanguinius: Crafted by the Primarch Sanguinius himself and with the aid of the Adeptus Mechanicus, this axe has been cutting down the enemies of man since the Great Crusade always in the hands of the Primarch's chosen Champion. It is made from the very blade Sanguinius once wielded into battle. It is a power weapon that always hits on a +3

This is my character in the actually fluff I wanted to give him and I guess just simple giving him IC so he can be singled out if desired, just let me know what you think of story and the new revamp. I know that some will be like, he cant best Kharn, well Kharn died once so I wanted there to be some bad that once bested him thought it would make cool background for character, Kharn and him basically being rivals that one day will meet again

I just meant him in general. It's a bit like getting a third HQ choice, since his stats are about that strong. However, seeing as HQ is not the strength of the SM list imo, I guess that's not a big deal.

My suggested version of him:
