So I reworked last list, and came up with two possible replacement lists. Obviously, My guard army is fluff based, Light infantry. Some constructive criticism would be welcome. Bear in mind, it's only for friendly games in a campaign me and a buddy are in. Guard VS Tyranids campaign.

Well, I think it might well suffer versus Tyranids. Tyranids don't, after all, rely on long range fire (well, stereotypically) and therefore all the camocloaks given by to the vets might not be all that useful. And when the bugs close, the guardsmen just won't be able to hold up in assault. And, though the griffon will do some damage, and the rough riders will be able to tie them up for a little, I just don't think that'll be enough.

True. In my first version I had all the sergeants with power swords, but they told me to drop them. So I did, and this is how it looks like.

Personaly, I am more leaning to LIST 2. Simply because I get 10 extra guys. Cavalary that is, with pointy boom sticks.

Mm. But, well, I should have asked (cuz I am unimaginative) what your battle plan was, generally. Like, if facing tyranid horde, then blank. Then critiqued.

So, what is your general battle plan?

In the Wasteland

The company command squad is just there for orders and when the nids close in, they can melt a few with their melta guns, then charge a depleted squad, and maybe kill some with the captain's powersword. But I am considering of dropping a few points somewhere to include a bodyguard for more chances of survival in combat, as wel as a few extra attacks.

The ratlings will be placed somewhere behind the lines, preferably somewhere safe and with a clear line of sight.

The Vets are there just as infantry. The reason why I took vets is based on Fluff.

The Scout sentinal. He's meh when in comes down to tactics. I don't really know what to do with him. I always imagined him to stalk enemy lines, harassing. this or, outflanking to draw away attention from the rest of my guys, giving a squad one, maybe two more turns to shoot.

If I take the Rough Riders, they are there for basically tha same reason. To move forward and get a charge off, preferably a big thing. a Carnifex or a Hive Tyrant. that's their use. They probably die soon after they did their job. But when they killed the target, they have done everything I expected of them, and they would have got their worth out. what, I think a fex of some kind with upgrades is easily 100 or more points?

The Griffon. Not sure about him. I had 75 points left, and it fitted in. I didn't want to look for points to drop. But I'll place it somewhere next to the ratlings at the back of the board. With no line of sight to the enemy, or otherwise they can't shoot.

But that depends wich list I am going to use.

A carnifex without upgrades is 190pts I believe.

But Rough riders will really struggle against it. Sure, they might get some wounds on it, but statistically, I believe on the charge they would only get about 2 or maybe 3 wounds on the Carnifex before it face raped them back.

Because boomsticks only work in the first turn of combat. Which sucks.

As for the Sentinel, the best it can probably do is have a heavy flamer and wade through little bugs. Heavy flamer = roasted unit because of 2+ to wound, and in assault, Gaunts can't harm it. But watch out for the big bugs .

ah well. But I expect the riders to die after the first round of combat. with luck on my side, it could just work.

I might just change the autocannon to a heavy flamer. But my opponant usually fields lot of big things. A tyrant, a couple of Carnifexes. Warriors. But not that many gaunts. Oh and preferes using genestealers.

In that case, definitely get flamered-up; Genestealers hate fire. Big time.

3+ instakill? I like those odds..

Besides, you ARE going to get charged. May as well let the Sentinel soak up the first hits, and try and take some of them down with it.

As for the warriors.. They're nasty little (big) things.

Which is why you really should get a nice, juicy S8 or 9, or 10 even, pie-plate.

Specifically a Leman Russ.

Getting a leman is probably the best advice I could give you. They're quite tasty.

As for the army list, an AV14 motherf*cker with a S8 Pie-plate is probably the most fun unit (other than Marbo, who also would be quite good in your list for assassinating things) an Imperial Guard player can get his hands on.. in none-apocalypse, that is.

Yeah oke, I give in. I initiatly said I wouldn't take any heavy armor. But if needs be...I could just take them from an other Regiment. That's were my city fight guard come in

Norway, pretending I'm a space Wolf in Fenris :p

"Yay", driving scrap..erhm I mean armor!
Stupid we cant give carnifexes the 2+ save upgrade from old codex... but in the old codex,we couldnt field them in broods!
On my side it will become hard: 3 carnies,or 12 genestealers. or i could cut out the warriors... ITS CONFUSING!
The only thing I really fear are the flamers. GOD, those things are fething awesome (and iritating) ,what they can do with a bunch of genestealers...
makes me think... i got 2 redeemers... NOTE TO MYSELF:next time when facing nids bring redeemers with me for toasting.

By the way Scrazz, don't 'spose you'd be willing to document the epic, utter, total and repeated destruction of the Tyranid menace at the hands (and lasguns) of the soldiers of His most courageous troops; The Imperial Guard!

In other words, let us know how the campaign goes. Oh, and I mean no offense to the Tyranid player, of course.

*ahem* accursed Xenos *ahem*

Oh yeah, you could also bring along some Deathwatch marines to whoop some Alien butt.

hehehe

The campaign isn't going well. at least not now. First game loss, and the second a draw. But I am still working on the list.
