With the recent hype of a possible Necron release, I was thinking of picking up a few battle forces while the prices are still cheap. God knows when they do get released, a new Battleforce, with a much less discount, is going to replace the current one.

My main conflict here is if Warriors and Destroyers will be outdated when the new codex comes along. From what I gather from Cron Players, Warriors and Destroyers form the core of any good force. However just because people use them, doesnt mean they'll still be good in the new dex (coughcarnifexcough) There are also rumors of Plastic Immortals floating around, and my original intention was to convert the warriors into Immortals so I was wondering if I should hold off the purchase, or just jump in while there are still some sweet deals.

I deeply regret not having spent my money grabbing a few battle forces. The Destroyers that come in the battle force truly do make it worth it, otherwise tracking the needed amount of individual boxes is horrid.

And even with the release of a new codex, having alot of Necrons will be good in case we'll need stand-ins for something as the warriors can make wonderful conversions.

Personally I can't see Necrons or Destroyers being nerfed or unsuable when the new dex comes out so I would get them (in fact I have). Plus if they don't make plastic Immortals or if you simply don't like the new ones you could still convert your own

I regret not getting the Necron Warrior Phalanx (monolith, 6 destroyers, lord, 48 warriors, 12 scarabs (or in other words 2 battleforces + lord + Monolith))

But yes the battleforce is a really good buy at least at the moment

The necron battleforce is great. Stupid destroyers being 20USD a pop.

Currently I'm planning on purchasing 2 Necron Battle Forces for Christmas (my family drags me to the store and have me pick out presents rather than ask for a list). I can probably make the following:

15 Immortals
15 Flayed Ones

26 Warriors

6 Destroyers.

I'm hoping I can find a way to convert 3 destroyers into Heavy Destroyers for tank poping. Also, does fielding three Monos and boxing in the Warriors while charging other stuff out actually work? I possess the Nightbringer already.

I was hilarious when i first got a destroyer lord, they give you the plastic destroyer sprues and a metal lord top half

When Necrons do get redone, Destroyers and Warriors probably won't be. They're good looking models, and they're plastic; there's way too much metal to get converted to plastic first. Expect plastic Immortals and Pariahs, and maybe plastic Tomb Spyders to round them out. This isn't going by any rumors (although the plastic Immortals one has been floating around) but merely by common sense.

I'm just hoping they dont nerf the Monolith or any of the battle force contents. I got into 40K because of the Necrons.

You realise that the 'upcoming Necron release' is predicted for around June-September right?

Nonetheless, the Necron Battleforce is one of the better Battleforces around and is a good deal. I wouldn't worry, I can't imagine anything within the Necron Codex being nerfed. That'd be kicking a man when he's down then picking him back up and kicking him again. Twice.

given the amount of work I have to do for Animation, I doubt waiting till June-September would be tough.

I'm actually thinking of doing the same, however, I don't play nearly enough to benefit from 3 armies, the reason I would get them is for modeling, and then hopefully once the new codex comes out I'll have more of a budget.

I have a 6000+ Cron force and I love 'em. If you are a tourney player, or have to win every single game you play, then maybe go with a different army. People dog 'Crons, but they can still kick ass, you just need to know what to do and how to do it.
Plus, most people that bitch about how weak they are don't understand their list and run very limited armies and won't pony up for Immortals, think Spyders are useless, and ignore Wraiths...

I always play gimmick armies, especially ones that look striking on the board. I could care less if I lose (unless if the guy was a dick about it), it's all about the converting for me. Plus Necrons was the reason I got into the game in the first place, I NEED a necron army at some point.

Then the battleforce is your best bet

I'm just overall wondering if they are going to change the Destroyers and Warriors with new models. It would really suck if they come up with new shiny models that clash badly with the old ones.

one rumor is that they are changing everything with an immortal body (are destroyers included in this?)

The rumors I've heard are just that they're coming out with a new plastic kit for the Tomb Spyder and Immortals, but largely keeping everything else. However that was about half a year ago.

Fluff wise the Destroyers are Immortals with skimmer bodies. Model-wise though, there's some differences with the bodies.

Ah so they might end up changing destroyers (kind of hope they do so that they can have a box of 3 so we can all save some money, 5 would be amazing but i doubt that would happen)

they will most likely make a box of 3 for them, but the cost might range anywhere from 45-65 CAD (like the Bloodcrushers, or more akin to the Killa Kanz).

I don't see destroyers or warriors going anywhere. Hell if you can afford it and are sure you want necrons I'd spring for http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat370006&prodId=prod1430005&rootCatGameStyle= whilt it's still available. At only $200 MSRP (discounts can probably be found elsewhere) it's a steal for what is essentially an army in a box.

Edit:
Saves you about $57 over buying 2 battleforces, a lord & a monolith (The contents of the phalanx)

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

Apparently so, GW still says it is. What i think happened is no one bought the ones they made because of the huge nerf the crons got served for 5th combined with their relative scarcity before hand.

There's some good deals from time to time on E-bay and Craig's List. I picked up 40 warriors, 6 destroyers, 3 heavy destroyers, a lord, a Nightbringer, and a bunch of scarabs for 65 american dollars. This girl's boyfriend got her into it and then dumped her. Sucks for her, bully for me...

If it's still available (I'll try tonight) I'm buying it. I'm planning on getting a monolith anyways and the savings is astonomical.

You Sir are a Scholar and a Gentlemen, thats the box i said before i wish was still avalible, why cant you get to it normally?

EDIT: You might want to E-mail them first, this looks like it might be an error. You cant get to the box normally through their site even with search, and when its in your cart there is no part number listed. I wonder why its listed as avalible thought? Still trying to find this on another site would be worth it

actually, I can get two battle forces, the Monolith, and the Lord for 4 dollars cheaper than that set from a local FLGS. I'm going with that route, since I can get it in sections, get 8 more Warriors, and can get it in sections so it's not one gigantic purchase.

I'm too lazy to read thru the thread, but I'll say this. If you want to build a Necron Army, the Necron Battleforce is AMAZING.
