A brood of hormagaunts deep strikes using a mycetic spore, since they won't move until next turn, my opponent moves a squad eqquipped with flamers to roast some bugs before I can charge next turn ( duh):
Can he put the template so it hits the spore AND termies behind it (yeah, they are behind the spore yet), denying cover, or those models, out of LoS, cannot be hit this time?
Would it be the same if, instead of a staying behind a mycetic spore, the brood is just around a corner?
It already sucks having a immobile transport of "AV" of 8 (R4=AV8 more or less), but also losing their inherent hiding cover function would be plainly racist...

He can indeed do so, as long as he covers as much of the target unit (the spore) as possible.

Both units would take hits based on the number of models under the template, and being in or out of LOS is not important.

So the same could be applied to a zerker squad disembarking a rhino by one side and an enemy firing from the other side of the tank? would zerkers get hit?

Did I give any indications on limitations? No? Then that means it works.

Just remember that, like normal units, you must cover sa much of the VEHICLE as possible. SO unless you set yourself up correctly you will not hit many bezerkers - for example of you are perpendicular to the side of the rhino, then you will not be able to simply place the template in front of your, hitting straight "through" the tank to the unit - you would have to aim it slightly to the side, to cover ore of the tank.

Slight clarification: Note that the unit which much be covered as much as possible is the TARGETED unit. Whether that's the spore pod or the hormies, the Rhino or the Zerkers.
