What is the best wood elf hero.

I like mine served cold, with some jungle "herbs".

Best? The one that rolls well and avoids needing to make armor or ward saves!

Could you be more specific? Are you asking about from the options in the army book? Are you asking about magic item combinations?

It also depends on the purpose that you want the hero to perform.

I think Legolas is great. Gimli kills more orcs in the contest, but Legolas is pretty good with that bow...

I have always been a fan of the alter noble, but I like the W's as well (wardancer, waywatcher, and wild rider). Of course, with highborn builds you can get much better characters. Here are some different builds;

Noble - alter, wildfire blades, helm of the hunt, potion of strength = 6 str7 flaming attacks when he downs the potion and charges, but then down to 5 str4 flaming attacks after that.
Noble - alter, gw, amber pendant = 4 str6 attacks and enemy attacks last. You could also give him the talisman of protection for a 6+ ward save.
Noble - waywatcher, hail of doom arrow = popping the arrow first turn is lots of fun and you still get lethal shot after that.
Highborn - wardancer, blades of loec, annoyance of nettlings, talisman of endurance = 5+ ward save, reroll failed to wound rolls, in challenges only hit by 6's, dances of loec. He could use some tweaking but pretty good. The noble version only has the blades of loec.
Highborn - wild rider, stag, dawnspear, stone of crystal mere. The noble version only uses the dawnspear.

My favorite model-wise is definitely the noble on great stag. So much style

A spellsinger on unicorn is a close second, though!

I'm not playing him now, but I like a highborn on great eagle with giant blade, glamourweave and enchanted shield, hits hard where you want him too, but doesnt do the LD game very well.

IMHO the best is the Spellweaver + WOWE +whatever you like. You can tell it is the best because it is in nearly every list.

This guy is 571 Points, has 8 S4 attacks on the charge
The dragon has 5 S6 attacks, plus breath weapons and Thunderstomp.

My lord has a 3+ save, but no ward so i am considering trying to work one in some how. He will be a solid hammer unit once i get some eternal guard to use as an "Anvil Unit"

My favourite on papaer has always been the following

Highborn; Alter Kindred, Bow of Loren, Arcane Bodkins + whatever ward save you can get him

This guy can march 18" and still fire off 5 shots that allow no save!

Take that Chaos knights or any other high armour target that might come your way

Never managed to get this guy in one of my lists though always have to make room for more punch in close combat

My current list is a Highborn on a dragon! but then I have a real love for dragons!

Mine is pretty much the same, except I go with murder of spits instead of the helm. Not sure if the d6 poisoned attacks is better than one guaranteed kb attack on the charge or not.

yep we sure can (provided it is not a Wild Rider Kindred who can only have magical light armour) good protection for your BSB but I prefer the armour that gives a ward save.

On the dragon builds what does everyone think f working in the Crown of Command? It means you would not have to worry about static combat res being your downfall (a big problem with anyone riding a monster) and would allow your dragon to happily plough into hordes all day long

Crown of command sounds like a great idea!

I hate when monstrous creatures break from combats that the foe cannot hurt it just because of static res. Too bad it is a crown and not a helm (+1 to the AS would have been nice)

Was wondering whether anyone has tried the hunter's talon or pageant of shrikes on a noble in 8th?

I seem to see people taking 2nd level wizards with power scrolls, and I wondered if putting a wound on the caster before he casts might be effective in keeping the scroll in his/her pocket?

i realy like the lord on great eagle model though so i purchased it for xmas.
it was a pain to put together and im going to have to fix alot of gaps with green stuff
so far ive decided to gice it the bow of loren can you help me from here

Bow of Loren screams for arcane bodkins . . . but I'd wager you already know that
