Recently I was playing a game against an IG buddy of mine, and he managed to encircle my land raider with troops ( so i could not disembark) he then destroyed the LR which exploded. After the explosion, what would happen to the troops? SInce they technically couldnt even preform an emergency disembark. The rules say the models are placed where the vehicle used to be. (which would mean they werent destroyed because I could place them more than 1" away from the enemy models) but it was argued that they were destroyed as well since any form of exit was blocked..

also, if the case is they are not destoryed, does the whole unit have to be 1" away from enemy models. Or is the case that any models that can not be placed more than 1" away are destroyed?

-Thanks in advance

since it exploded the rules are clear, you take care of the explosion hits on the guys inside, then place the survivors in the crater. As the land raider is so huge it shouldn't be a prob fitting them inside the crater, and I'm pretty sure since they are being placed not moved you can place them within an inch of the enemy. If the vehicle had wrecked the troops inside would have all been destroyed outright though, as you cannot place them on top of the wreck and there was no room to emergency disembark.

Did you guys know Canada has a friggin desert?

the unit is placed where the land raider was. now if it were "wrecked" I think they would be trapped.

You're not playing the game like I play it...why aren't you playing the game like I play it?! O_O

As the above said:

If you get "vehicle explodes" the rulebook clearly states that the squad is placed in the crater (difficult terrain) where the vehicle was.

If you get "vehicle destroyed" the squad has to try to disembark, and is out of luck if the vehicle is totally surrounded.

You place the surviving PASSENGERS in the space where the exploded tank/vehicle was - if wrecked, they die.

The CREW don't get out*. They die in the tank. Tankers only ever get ONE grave (and they are already driving their coffins).

*Unless a SM has used Chronus. IF he SURVIVES the explosion (not guaranteed - it's a specific roll for him, not one of the passenger wound things) then within 2" of the vehicle.
