Yes. Not a Fandex or anything of that type, but a Codex of your own design; something that really does not pertain to any of the armies of Warhammer 40K. After I had gotten into 40K and really started to adore it. Somewhere along the lines, I got the idea of making a Codex purely of my design, something out of my own imagination. It may sound kind of silly, or perhaps not? Maybe someone else has attempted to do so and might of had been discussed on here before? Whatever the case, I am sure you know why I am bringing this up...need I to tell? Yep, I'm making my own Codex- in fact, I've been on it for a year now. I'm constantly changing stats and amending rules- special rules for the units in my Codex- and 'shining' other things up in it. I'm just simply curious as to what you all have got to say to something like this...I'm sure it has been brought up before, but I am just that: Simply curious. At least to me, I believe there to be some neat ideas in there, but at the same time, wondering if some rules are a bit broken, overpowered, outlandish, etc; things of that type. That is why it is good to have a second pair of eyes or more, to look over what you have done; for them to see something you don't.
I know, obviously, that I can't use it in any formal games or the like, but I'm having a good deal of fun making up the army, its fluff and units; if I get permission from my gaming friends, I would like to test run it. I've done several dice rolls, but we all know that scenarios in a real game can heavily affect such results, and thus, why I would like to test run it; whenever I get the Codex finished.
What are your thoughts?

I have thought of using the Codex, introducing it amongst my playing buddies, and coming up with scenarios for them to play against my Codex; both for fun and to see how it plays out. Because, as we all know, anything on paper always pans out differently in game mechanics, it seems, lol.
As far as what they are like...I do believe they are different. The Codex itself consists of a organization of humans- no less renegades and refugees from the Imperium- whom have formulated with two other races; both of which are aliens. I've made sure to create them accordingly; in which case, the humans are essentially advanced in terms of comparison to the Imperium, and do have better weapons and are better at shooting than the regular Guardsmen; then again, they are twice the costs of a Guardsmen though, and are not, in no way, a horde army. I really have combined a few 40k Armies for inspiration, rather using them as a basis for concepts, and went on from there; nothing really resembles much anything from the 40k Armies we know, in my Codex. I wanted to make something different...the usual strength four and armor penetration five deal- apart from Tau. The fluff part, I've not really developed on, as I wanted to use the creative energy on the construction of the units, before the fluff; but that doesn't mean I've written some, but not very much.
I can at least mention the names of the Races, I suppose. I think I might change this name, for the Humans, and if you think I should, I am open to any neat sound name. Anyway, the Humans are: Uqrainia. Yep...sounds and looks rather similar to Ukraine, doesn't it? Even the main character is named Lord Uqrain, lol. I kind of figured for them to be...I don't know exactly how to put it, but more government based? Kind of like they are more formulated in terms of social control. Almost kind of like a large, business owned Corporation, with vast amounts of power, and thriving heavily on economy and trade; especially from pirates, rouges and aliens. And, unlike the phobia of the Imperium about pure machines, they are more advanced than they are, and rely more so on AI's. Anyway...I've only one quote for them, and why I think it reflects their 'theme': "Serve your purpose, and you will be rewarded". That purpose being? Well...being paid, lol, amongst several other things. I suppose they are essentially a massive 'Corporation', not afraid of aliens and strive for what benefits them most; befriending whomever intrigues them so.
Ja'cuol Empire. I really haven't figured what they look like, or what exactly they are, but...I guess I'll come up with that later, lol. They are a purely religious alien race, and as you might imagine, have some good Psykers and in the Codex, have all invulnerable saves; not that impressive though. They are almost purely Close Combat, save for some Psykers that aren't awesome in close combat and better to stay out of it. Recently, I've made a single-man unit that...well...lets say I think it is a little too 'beast', lol. I think he is mowing enemies down too easily, and I need to fix that. I've not much on these guys...
Cydonan Union: again, another alien race. They live inside their suits, and are unable to outside of them. In that sense, they rely totally on technology, and are very, very advanced, but aren't that good at Close Combat; more so fulfilling the weapons role in the Codex, or the shooting part. I've figured for them to be from another galaxy, rather than from the Milkyway Galaxy; a possible fluff being that the Tyranids drove them out of another Galaxy? All I can say is, that they are great weapons and great ballistic skill, but not great at fighting closely...reminds of you of a particular army, hm? Anyway, their quote is: "To Improve Us All".
So far, that is what I have to offer...I do have at least 26 pages of document written up, and I've still to get the first army finished, lol.
