Ok, this is mostly a VASSAL project if anything, so I doubt I'll start tau
IRL.
Anyway, I was cruising around the interwebs and stumbled upon a thing called "ninja tau".
Put quite simply this army "abuse" the reserve rules aswell as the tau wargear Positional Relay.
This means that small, needed, elements of the army will trickle in during the first few turns and the whole thing will move in t4-t5.
Of course, taking second is always great with this one.
And the list:
Shas'
el, Positional Relay, Iridium Armour, 2 Shield Drones, Missile Pod, Flamer
Will start on the field every game, except maybe DoW. Maxed out for survivability. The focal point of the army. 2 XV8's with Twinlinked Fusion Blasters, Targetting Array, Teamleader with Target Lock
3 XV8's with Plasma, Fusion, Multitracker
3 XV8's with Plasma, Missiles, Multitracker
Will deep strike, taking out things that needs to be taken out. Comes in after one of the PF fishes. 10 Kroots, 7 Hounds
10 Kroots, 7 Hounds
10 Kroots, 7 Hounds
Outflanking, cheap troops that hide in forests, what's not to love? 6 Fire Warriors, Devilfish with
SMS, Dis pods, Multitracker and Targetting Arrey
Need to take 'em, and gives a quick moving fish. Comes in from the table edge. 6 Pathfinders, Devilfish with
SMS, Dis Pods, Multitracker and Targetting Arrey
6 Pathfinders, Devilfish with
SMS, Dis Pods, Multitracker and Targetting Arrey
Will either outflank or move in from the normal edge, might start one of them on the field. 2 Broadsides,
SMS, ASS, Team Leader with a Shield Drone and Target Lock
Railhead with Burst Cannons, Dis Pods and Multitracker
Ionhead with Burst Cannons, Dis Pods and Multitracker
The heavy guns, will come in from the own edge, as far away from the enemy troops as possible. Everything can move and fire. Broadsides will probably move in t2. The thing I'm afraid of is that I lack big guns and that I might be too heavy on the kroots and pathfinders...Any feedback is welcome.
