The start of my space wolves project, i decided to start out with my HQ's as i've traded my BA army for a space wolves army,

I received 3 grey hunter packs, 1 venerable dreadnought, 1 rhino, 2 long fangs pack, and a squad of wolf guard termies. I plan on getting two more rhinos and grimnar for xmas, and i'll be done for a little while. I have finished painting what i have save this Rune priest.

As i hate using metal for anything at alll, i decided to attempt and make a rune priest from plastic. It's a pretty standard since i used the Space Wolves Pack
Also, i'm not looking for comments on the painting as much as i'm looking for things involving the conversion. The painting is no where near completed for me and i will hopefully get a finished picture of it up.
I forgot to host the pictures on Dakka, doh! pics will be up soon.

+1
Other than that shoulder-mounted plasma the model looks good!

I like the shoulder mounted plasma, I'm rather sad they didn't ever make a model out of the Epic 40k cover (a Blood Angel Captain with a plasma gun - they were allowed on 2nd edition!) under his left arm. Kinda like what they did with the Sanguinary Guard, only a bit more "realistic".

Though my criticism, lunarghost, comes from the fact that you should've used better lighting and the macro setting, it really helps with the blur!

Thanks for all the replies, the main reason i had a shoulder mounted plasma was because it just looked so outta place on his hand, like something you would back-hand someone with, not something you would aim and shoot with. Which lead me to the shoulder mounted design, allowing both hands to be used to swing the axe much like the wrist mounted but more out of the way, but still there.

So i found my old camera that has a macro setting on it, while my new one doesn't. So here's the almost completed Rune Priest

Hum... Criticism time, mate, don't take it wrong!

Your golds would benefit from another layer or so of paint, not too thick so as not to obscure the detail. Gold is a hard paint to get right on a black undercoat. In order to bring out the detail, you could use some of the Foundation Washes. Also, consider using it on the vents in the backpack! They'll do wonders.

On the armour, you should try to "neaten" up the highlight lines, and maybe some darker colour or wash to "blackline" the model.

But keep on posting, and working out stuff! Oh, and Merry Christmas x)

My bad, my poor eyesight means I have selective reading sometimes. In this case, I read "completed" and ignored the rest, sorry

Love the Axe.

And I think the shoulder mounted plasma is a neat touch.

Another idea you can try for mounting the plasma, is do like the Custodes are supposed to have and mount the plasma as part of the axe itself. Might be an issue since you have him built but just an idea for future models

My $.02

That's a pretty good idea, but i wouldn't know how to go ahead making it. Well I'll try and get more pictures up soon, the model should look alot better since i received the Mega Paint Set so i have a wider range of paints.
