Dream Pod 9 is set to release the HHT-90 Heavy Hovertank for their Heavy Gear Blitz game. It's a pretty slick model, though with a steep price tag - here's the picture from the DP9 store. I'm sure Balance will be along to post about it, but wanted to show it off on Dakka a bit (since I might be getting one in a few days).

I've been busy. Thanks for the post, IceRaptor.
I do need to work on a gallery of the pcis I've got of this thing. Automatically Appended Next Post: The rules for this thing are in Gear UP! 3 by the way. It's basically a two 'component' vehicle, with the turret and hull each having their own pool of actions.
(The current rules are considered Field Testing.)

I've uploaded a big gallery of pictures of this beast.
Here's one showing scale a bit (as usual, the humanoid Gears and Frames are a bit bigger than 28mm human-types):

Right now the rules for the HHT-90 are being trialed and are free in the latest [url=http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=86197&affiliate_id=4310]Gear Up[url] issue. There's a few oddities, as the rules as currently released don't ever explicitly state that the Turret (which is handled as a separate vehicle for the most part) can't go flying off on it's own. This is, sadly, left to common sense.
On the plus side, it can carry a platoon of GREL supersoldiers as well as acting as a controller for Utopian Drones. (Long-time followers of the Heavy Gear setting may remember that Utopia had a massive tank with an option battlefield AI core. They contributed some tech to this project, although it's mostly a CEF project. We can hope that if this goes well the Utopian tank (a traditional treaded vehicle) may get released).
At 740 points it's essentially an army by itself. (Heavy Gear Bltiz! games generally range from 800-1500.)

you may want to wander over to the YMDC subforum and see just how little common sense some gamers possess. it's better to clarify it instead before the official rules are published especially since its a pdf file; just upgrade the version and make the small change to avoid future headaches.

A lot of stuff in Gear Up is makred 'Field Test' and is, essentially, similar to the old trial rules GW used to do. But, yes, it needs to be clarified. One odditity is that the HHT-90's ' BFG' is a 'F' weapon (Meaning 'forward' as in the weapon arc) and it's not 100% certain if that means it needs to be forward of the vehicle or just the fore of the turret. I go with the latter myself, but I'm web-guy, not rules guy, and probably for good reasons...

It is indeed a massive hover tank, it looks great. Wish the availability of DP9 was higher over here in the UK.

Where can I find the rules as a whole, and, a review of these rules?
I'm getting more and more interested, especially as there's no real support for EPIC anymore...

Wargames Guru has a nice review of Heavy Gear Blitz! up on his site. There's also a couple threads over int he Mecha forum... I do work for DP9, so I am of course biased.
The review I linked to is for the current starter, which includes two squads (1 North, 1 South) of Gears and the rulebook. You can also get the rulebook separately. The CEF (who build the giant tank, above) are fullydetailed in the Return to Cat's Eye book: the main rulebook has several full army lists, but the CEF is represented by an off-shoot group called PAK that uses a mix of their hover tanks and 'acquired' Gears.
A big difference between Heavy Gear and the esteemed competition in Battletech is that Gears are not nearly as threatening asd Battlemechs. Gears can have trouble taking on tanks, so a tank-focused force is very viable.
