Hey Everyone, in the tyranid codex it states that 1 genestealer can be upgraded to a Broodlord does that broodlord fill up 1 of the 2 Provided HQ choices? or is it a squad upgrade?

The Broodlord was a HQ choice in the previous codex, not anymore.

Think of the Broodlord as a 3 wound psychic Unit Champion now. It means you cant do a proper stealer list anymore, but does make him a brutal upgrade to the unit...

@nosferatu1001 i beg to differ, with a broodlord in 6 squads you can run ~70 genestealers 2 trygons and the swarmlord at 1850, yes they will all be bare bones, but that is still a army i wouldnt want to mess with

all bare bones thats 1730 so for 1850 you could give 40 genestealers toxin

or drop 10 genstealers for:

Swarmlord

2 x 9 Genestealers -toxin sacs + Broodlord - TS/ST/ImplantAttack

4 x 10 Genestealers -toxin sacs

2 x trygon - AG

4 pts left at 1850

I'm fairly sure his point is simply "you can't field an entire army made of nothing but genestealers." And you can't; there is no Genestealer-like HQ.

That was my point - you have to have a non-stealer in your list

It kind of sucks if you want a pure list but you can get a bare tyranid prime for 80 pts, kind of sucks he'll be by himself unless you join him with a unit of genestealers

Well none the less the question has been answered, so..what now?

I do wonder why there isnt a broodlord HQ anymore.

I am using the Inquisitor scale genestealer as my Tyranid Prime.. his biomorphs represent his claws n stuff, so he is properly "counts as".

and.. he visually fits the army.. so I am still running "stealers"
