Hi all,
I've started my Dark Eldar army and have finally settled on a colour scheme. I'll will be using the "Ruined temple" bases from Scibor and decided that the army will be based around a lost temple in the swamps. The bases and painting have gone rather well, it's just that I'm looking for some inspirational pictures of 'swampified' models. I've tried google'ing, but haven't come up with what I'm looking for.
What I'd really like is some pictures of models (or just of real-life swamps) with hanging vines for inspiration. I'd like to make the Raiders look like they've been flying in between trees and have picked up some of these vines along the way. I know it's a bit vague, but that's exactly why I'm asking for pictures.
The first almost completed Warriors (they are less blurry in real-life!)
Many thanks in advance! Automatically Appended Next Post: Ah! I found a picture of the look I'm going for (although obviously it needs more spikes!).

I'm afraid I don't have any help in regards to your question, but i did want to comment on how great your Warriors look. Oh, and also to curse you for pointing me to Scibor's stuff because now I will be forced to tax my budget to buy a bunch of those bases. :(

Check this out, the post above linked you to it. I plan on doing my necrons juuuust like this. Although what your saying is 2 different things i believe, swamp, or lost jungle theme?? Here is a swamp idea, where did you get those bases!?

Here they are Automatically Appended Next Post: Actually i found the bases, they are very cool but VERY expensive, 90 dollars to put my necron warriors on them, i want to do a swampy theme though not so much jungle, although the jungle theme is inspirational !

Those pics sooooo make me want to restart my Necron army... only one I ever managed to get fully painted and assembled (to a standard that made more than a handful of people go oooohhhhh..... ahhhh....). If only they weren't so boring to play :(
Anyway, I would say those pics are the only inspiration you need, the modeler really did a good job at capturing the feel of 'swampy' without making the minis unrecognizable. Any more and it would appear that your opponents army was made up of swamp-thing, any less and it would look like some static grass had rubbed off on the models.

The water is either clear drying pva/wood glue, clear resin, or commercially available water effects (check woodland scenics).
As for the vines/scrub covering them:

I would guess that he used that stuff, probably mixed in with some clear drying glue/water effects, etc. to give them the slimy weighted down appearance.
It seems pretty simple, but thats all conjecture. I would test it out on some spare bits before trying it on my models though. Hopefully someone else will be able to confirm the methodology used.

Did you paint those bases, or do they come painted?
