Sabers = Symbolises my MOS, Cav Scout (19D)
Skull = Symbolises my friends that are no longer here
Black Beret = Symbolises my branch (Army)

Eventually I will add some scroll work with OIF 1&2, OIF 5&6 with dates around/under it.

Now before you tree hugging hippies open your mouths, I tried to get crossed oil drums with the words steal printed on them with a dead baby on the front with the words USA under it to make you all happy.... but that was already taken by Bush Jr.

I like the dead baby idea too, I got a tattoo of me throwing a live pig that I had dressed in lingerie into an orphanage.

And the pig had tattoo's as well.

I few concerns on this piece, the guards of the sabers being that large make thier sheaths look like they are daggers, the black beret while Army in nature is Army Rangers specific, are you a Ranger? Or paying homage to ones in your unit if you are going to put Unit IDs on there? Critisms done, pretty clean ink and no evidence of scarring, good artist .

Edit: I should note, that it was up to local commanders until 1979 to allow other units to wear distinctive head gear and it was worn by Armor and ACR units until that time, Then it was disallowed. The black beret was allowed as Ranger only headgear in 1975 until current.

To my knowledge the black beret replaced the billed green cap as standard headgear for the army about ten years ago.

If I wanted to do this true scale, I would have needed to put this on either my back or my chest. And hell to the no, I am NOT a glorified infantrymen (ranger). Why go to Ranger school when I get access to nearly the same schooling and equipment (plus some mos specific stuff) that they do and not have to deal with the mongo mentality?
Sadly, being a ranger ain't what it used to be. The only reason to go anymore is so you can get that shiny ranger tab and attempt to gloat over everyone else.

As for beret colors:

Black=army
Tan= Ranger
Red= Airborne
Green= Explains itself
Stetson= Cav
(didn't go with this option cause I could not find a design that I liked)

Hope this helps clear a few things up.

Well one must keep in mind I got out a bit ago (read the 90s) , having a Ranger tab was something to be proud of, you were proven to be a damn good shot, and to be able to survive and still functiion in a state of heavy deprivation. It wasn't really something the guys I served with "gloated" about. However, I was in Cco, 3/7 SFG (A), so the thought process might be a bit different, as for having the same system as our friends across the pond, well yeah, however we did have one of thier former SAS in our unit, hardcore as hell and taught us rugby .

these days the entire army wears black berets, rangers wear tan.

And being ranger tabbed is still something to be proud of, its not a walk in the park, although its much more common nowadays.

Anyway, sweet ink, although I'm disappointed that you didn't go for the stetson and spurs...

Just couldn't find a design with those that I liked.
