Everybody in my local group is starting a new army for Christmas. My friend Giovanni is starting Blood Angels. He uses my Chaos as proxy in a 1,500 versus my Tau friend. BA list looked like 3 Assault Squads, each with a powerfist, melta, flamer, and sanguinary priest. There was a squad of 6 honor guard with some sort of standard, lightening claws, and storm shields along with the HQ Seth. Tau has 24 FW, 7 Crisis Suits, Railhead, 2 devilfish, 12 kroot, and a broadside. Blood Angels get first turn. They deploy up max, fly one foot forward, and run up behind cover. Tau go. In short, only three Blood Angels were lost. Turn 2, Blood Angels spilt assault to kill all of the crisis suits, a squad of fire warriors, and the hammerhead with a powerfist. Are Blood Angels really this good? With jump infantry troops and Feel No Pain, they seem nigh unkillable. How can my Chaos measure up to this? And tyranids when I get them in a few days? They seem really

Tau are the best enemy for blood angels as once they get into assault they win. An yes they are good but not unbeatable at all

Blood Angels are far from unbeatable. Assault Marines won't stand up to any dedicated assault troops. Your average Chaos Marine in the Chaos codex can go toe to toe with them just fine, but have more firepower in exchange for less maneuverability. Tyranids can easily swamp them with numbers or tear them down with monstrous creatures.

Of all the things in the Blood Angels codex to call cheesy, Assault Marines are at the bottom of the pile.

I've never played against them myself (yet) and just from what I've seen they put up quite a fight. I figure if I just swamp the field with vehicles (Defiler, Vindicator, Predator, etc) or have anything 'Nids that ignores armor things will get pretty nasty. Doom of Malan'tai? Lulz ensue. I'm just worried about mass 3+ armor and Feel No Pain galor, my Tau friend couldn't get a shot through. Luckily most magic will have trouble getting through with SitW. What would you guys suggest for my upcoming games?

Don't forget that AP1-2 and power weapons don't allow FNP saves. It's worth having a good read of the FNP rule to make sure you're all correct on exactly what it can be used against.

Just one quick point, Honor Guard is always just 5 guys and only 4 of those can take wargear because one is a sanguinary noviate

Seriously FnP isn't hat much to worry about. power weapons, ID, or even just swarming him with more wounds than he can save will work fine. When i play marines the big stopper is being swarmed by orks or gaunts and having too many saves to make. this is especially true with my terminators. also this is exactly what i try to do with my orks. swamp them with wounds.

Your average BA list is either spending a lot of points of jetpack squads or razorbacks. Tyranids and Chaos can handle both in equal mesure

High AP, Power weapons, Instant death,or sweeping advance on them. these are ways to get around those pesky FnP saves

S'all fun and games until some no life troll master debates all over your space manz & ruins it for you

Can't sweep them, they're either fearless or ATSKNF.

Anyway, don't defilers have a battle cannon? It pretty much just IDs any blood angel that's not a terminator/sanguinary guard/HQ, (which are expensive.)
