The way i thought it might be using just gw was regal blue with a black wash for the great coats , and then highlit with the same , a mix of boltgun and chaos black for the masks , what do other think?

Personally I like to go for lighter colour schemes and the desert colours have hardly been used by any race apart from Tau. Might want to look at that to be different?

If I am not in my room, is it still my room?

My suggestion to you would be to PM some of the guys on dakka who have already painted DKoK. Regnak has some troops that look very similar to the ones on the website. Here is his blog so you can look at all his amazing stuff (There are a whole lot of people collecting DkoK but Regnak updates the most frequently)

Hope this helps!

I am also painting up some death korps and am going for a dark green cloth and desert yellow armour (here is my test miniature though he is not actually a death korps figure)

the greatcoats are not in regal bleu to dark a think a mix of fortress or codex grey will do masks have same colour as tents and backpacks show some pics if you start painting

The scheme is in IA: Masterclass Vol.1

IIRC it's

Codex Grey helmets and coats (airbrushed on)
Graveyard Earth Fatigues
Burnt Umber (scorched brown) for boots and equipment.

They don't list the other colours however, but they do tell you how to mass paint them quickly.

EDIT://

not sure if this'll help, but I tried to base my engineers on the FW website ones.

There's more pics of them in my gallery if you want to see them.

Try Using Shadow gray as a start. Its a blue gray similar to the coat color. Just blend and try new mixes on test models until you get it. Also, weathering. You will probably want to pick up weathering powders as those look ace on the models.

Gathering the Informations.

They use a 50/50 mix of Shadow and Codex Grays for the basecoat, then a 75/25 mix of the same to do the highlighting and the main coat color.

Do not use Space Wolf Gray, as it's a white-gray, rather than blue-gray.

Woops. Guess I got my grays mixed up.
Sorry, Shadow gray does sound right. I'll edit my post.

You're okay, Face. Sometimes Space Wolf Gray can come out blue-gray, but it's only when painted over a Shadow Gray basecoat

Space Wolf Gray however, when mixed properly in a 50/50 of Shadow/Space Wolf makes a fantastic "dusty" color for the armor.
